Chapter 11: Prophecy
Dean's POV:
This can't be. It just can't. Not my Mate.
I knew something had to be different about her for a 'human' to be left, but I didn't know it was something this big. Now it makes me worry about Jaydenn.
My mind is somewhere else when we step through the doors of our 'home.' I had just finished skinning the deer, now all we have to do is let it cook.
'Distract Jay for a little bit so I can talk to Sara.' I tell Drew through a mind-link. Of course, because he's Drew, he tags Jay yelling, "Your it!" and takes off running. Sara rolls her eyes as Jay takes off after him and heads towards the living room.
Everything that happened adds up. Her eyes changed a stunning silver when those men threatened Jaydenn, when those men broke in, she nearly killed the two male Wolves. A 'human' woman nearly killed two Wolves. She can sense people coming, too.
It's not possible.
She plops down on the couch with a sigh of exhaustion.
"So, care to explain?" She asks.
I sit across from her and put my elbows on my knees, intertwining my fingers. This reminds me of the last time she confronted me.
"I think your shifting." I reply flatly. Why bend it? It wouldn't help the situation anyway. This gets her attention and she sits up, mimicking my position.
"So your saying... I'm a Wolf?" She asks, pointing at herself.
Something tells me she's not going to handle this as well.
"No, your not a Wolf." I tell her.
She looks at me like I'm crazy and say's, "Okay, your confusing me. I'm shifting but I'm not a Wolf? Giving me all of the information at once would be helpful."
"You not shifting into a wolf, your shifting into a cat, a leopard. Your a Shifter. That's why your seeing yellow. Cat's can tell different moods or intentions of others by the color that line's their vision. Yellow means lying, ocean blue means a good, calm person, light blue is fear, blood red is an evil person, forest green in a mischievous and sneaky person, light green is emotional pain, purple is a hyper person, and white is someone who is rebellious."
"Tell me everything." She reply's.
"Cat's were supposed to be extinct centuries ago, but from the looks of you, they're not. I knew you couldn't have been human from the start, but up until now, I questioned it. When something like this happens, no human is to be left here. One of your parents had to be a Shifter. Because Jaydenn is still here, I think she is either a Shifter or a Wolf, right now we can't exactly say." I reply. I leave the bad part out, the part that my Mate will soon have to play.
"Where are all of the people?" She asks.
"They're being held in pods. Kind of like a prison, but they have complete freedom. They're fed perfectly fine, basically given a contained second life. They have their own personal rooms, families have slightly larger rooms. When they are returned, they will be in their original place, memory's wiped. Sadly, that will be a while from now." I reply.
"When will Jaydenn shift?" She asks.
"More than likely very soon. When something like this happens, which isn't very often, everyone shifts no matter their age." I reply.
"When is the last time this happened?" She asks.
"Centuries ago. That's why all of the cat's are gone." I freeze when the words leave my mouth. That wasn't supposed to come out.
"What do you mean, gone?" She asks, standing in the process.
I stand as well and reply, "It's nothing Sara."
"It is something!" She raises her voice.
I realize I have no choice after that. After calming her into sitting back down, I tell her.
"Cat's are more powerful than Wolves, more than an Alpha. They're very powerful in war, and gifted with the strategy. Each pack tried to recruit as many as possible. After getting most of the population, which they thought was all of it, they went to war. All of the cat's died in war because of the Iron substance used for weaponry. It's like silver to Werewolves, but Iron to a cat. They didn't know the iron was going to be used and were not prepared." I reply.
She sits, her eyes somewhere else as if she's putting the puzzle together.
"They're after both you and Jaydenn because you're are prophecy. The last Cat to be born. Thing is, they don't know which one of you it is. My pack is desperate to find you, but I don't know about the other one." I regret saying mine when her head snaps up to meet my gaze.
As soon as this happens Drew and Jaydenn come into the room. I can tell they both feel the tension.
She glares at me as she stands, anger radiating off of her in waves.
"So your saying... you and him," She gapes, pointing to Drew, "Are here because you want me and Jay to fight for you?!"
"No, Sara-" I didn't get to finish.
"That's why you stayed! That's why you helped us! You 'need' us!"
-----Sara's POV:-----
I can't tell if he's lying. That's what I hate. Drew, I see dark blue, white, and purple, good, rebellious, and hyper. Jaydenn, I see dark blue again, calm. But Dean, I can't read him at all, and I hate it.
I look at Drew and he looks scared at my stare.
"You," I say pointing at him, "You tell me he's not lying!"
"He's not! We would never do that!" He says frantically, taking steps backwards.
I see a light blue, he's scared. Luckily I see nothing else and I know he's not lying. If it weren't for Jaydenn I would leave.
I relax and stand for a minute and glare at Dean who looks heart broken; I have no idea why though.
"The uh.. meat's going to burn." Jaydenn say's, trying to break the tension. Dean takes this as his chance to leave.
Drew awkwardly scratches the back of his neck and follows.
I can't believe this.
