Chapter 23: Why Am I Friends With You?!
Sara's POV: (Just a goofy picture of the man who plays Drew. Zoom in and look at his face, it's hilarious. The picture fits Drew's personality :) Drew's humor is back in this chapter :D)
We made it back to Walmart sometime around three in the morning. The first thing I did was sleep. I don't remember how we got in the woods, let alone how we got away, but all I know is that we did get away.
When we got home we found the entire bag of dog food we left for Zeus gone. The dog eats like a horse. I stretch my legs one last time before getting up. I whimper lightly and fall on the dresser for support. I look at my leg and realize it's still not fully healed.
Dean said it would take longer than normal because of the drug that was in my system. From what he said, it will only take the rest of today. I limp my way into the living room and see only Dean is up. I sit down beside him and tiredly lean my head on his shoulder.
He rest's his hand on my leg and I close my eyes. I need to get up but I'm still tired. For some reason when I'm away from Dean, I sleep, but I don't actually get any rest out of it. When I'm around him I can actually rest. A wild idea suddenly pops into mind and I look at Dean to see his eyes are closed.
If you ask me it all adds up. He got angry when he heard about the incident with Jaxon, any time it's mentioned he gets irritated, and he's so possessive it's unreal. Not only that, but Armani said we were mates. Not that I wanted to believe her.
"I'm your mate aren't I?" I ask. His eyes fly open and I look away.
"Why do you say that?" He ask's.
"Your not denying it." I argue.
He stays quiet for a while when I suddenly hear him let out a soft sigh, then he say's, "Yeah. You are."
I can sense Drew and Jay peeking around the corner but I don't say anything.
'I told you he's our mate.' Armani echo's through my mind.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask.
"I didn't want to scare you off. Not only that, you had a lot to deal with as it is anyway." He reply's.
"You know what I hate about you?" I ask.
He chuckles a bit and ask's, "And what is that?"
"That I can read everyone else, but not you. I look at you and see no color, and even as a human it was difficult to tell if you were lying. Possible, but difficult." I reply.
He looks down at me and just smiles. He continues to come closer towards me, but is really hesitant. I get tired of him being so slow so I meet him half way, causing our lips to connect. Jaxon didn't feel like this, he didn't make butterfly's course through my stomach and he didn't give me that electrical feeling that Dean does.
Cheesy, I know, but true. He put's his hand on the side of my face, trying to pull me closer.
I jump back at the sudden noise of both Drew and Jay yelling "Eww!"
I fall backwards on the couch laughing. Dean see's nothing humorous about the interruption and glares at Drew growling. Drew stops laughing and freezes.
Dean gives him a playful smile and takes off after him. Drew takes off running yelling, "Mr. Sniffles! Help me!" referring to the spider he caught for the prank. Why does he still have that thing anyway?
I nearly die laughing and end up falling off the couch holding my stomach. I hear a girly high pitched scream and I look up just in time to see Dean running from Drew who has the spider. Again.
(Any one who is a fan of the show Supernatural read this: Remember the episode called Yellow Fever? Where Dean is scared of everything? Remember how the cat runs out of the locker at the abandoned lumber yard and makes Dean scream really high pitched? That's literally how I pictured this XD)
"Mr. Sniffles just wants a kiss!" Drew yells chasing him.
"Why am I friends with you?!" Dean yells back and continues to run screaming bloody murder.
I keep laughing as I listen to them run all over the store, Dean swearing profanities at Drew in the process.
I eventually calm down and walk outside to get some fresh air. What freaks me out is that it feels like fall. It feels like there's just a chill of warmth in the air, know what I mean? The kind of cold that feels relaxing.
There is no wind, no movement. It's like the world is standing still.
I take my jacket off and sit in the lawn chair. I suddenly hear a loud horn go of, echoing through the woods. Not a car horn, but the one's you would hear in a movie right before battle. Loud, vibrating drums pound in the distance. War drums.
Dean and Drew run outside with Jaydenn trailing them.
It suddenly clicks.
That was a battle cry.
