Chapter 13: The Big Bad Scardey Wolf
Sara's POV:
Jay and I are still sitting in the living room with her trying to wake up.
I jump at her sudden voice, "You know it's almost Christmas?"
Has that much time passed? I glance at the calendar we've been using to count days. She's right. It's only one week until Christmas.
"Well, at least we can just pick something off the shelf." I reply, not exactly in the Christmas mood.
Imagine this: trapped in Walmart, becoming a Shifter, while living with two Werewolves in the middle of a war that you didn't even start. Yeah, that's my Christmas. I don't speak my mind because I don't want to be down like this, but it's kind of hard to avoid.
"Are you okay?" Jay asks, "You seem-"
A loud yawn interrupts her as Drew dramatically comes in.
"Okay, it's official! I'm awake. Just thought I'd say that!" He says loudly, then pauses as if listening for a reply.
"Drew! Shut up!" Dean yells from his room.
"There it is, never gets old." He smiles, and dramatically falls on the couch across from us. Everything about him is dramatic.
Entertaining, though.
Jay rolls her eyes at his behavior and lets her last question go. I need to thank Drew for saving me later. Jay walks off and comes back with a bottle of shampoo, a towel, and a pair of clothes, "Coming?" She asks.
I stare at the bottle as if it's my enemy.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe it's just my overactive imagination. Maybe being the key word. It echos in the back of my mind, haunting me even more.
"Uh, no, I don't think it's a good idea." I reply, not moving from my spot.
"Why?" She asks with a puzzled look.
"I just don't." I reply, frustration lining my voice.
Drew looks up and says, "You're having nightmares aren't you?"
I stare at him for a minute and wonder how he knows. I'm not that readable. Am I?
"Jay, do me a favor and get my stuff too, please." I ask. She looks unconvinced but doesn't argue.
"How do you know that?" I ask.
"It's a part of the shifting process. You'll have good dreams, bad dreams, but only when you fully shift, dreams then can come as serious warnings. But right now your brain is just trying to adjust. Whatever that dream was, sounds like it was about Jaydenn." He replies.
I just nod, "You better hope you're right."
Right on time Jay comes back with my stuff in hand. I take it from her and instruct her to keep beside me and not to fall behind. Out of paranoia I grab a gun on the way out.
-----10:25A.M.-----
Luckily nothing went wrong. I let out a sigh of relief when we step through the doors of Walmart, now knowing everything's fine. Except for the fact that I'm freezing!
Beside me I hear Jay's teeth chattering, she's probably hearing the same thing from me. We could get sick doing this, going out in this weather and getting wet, but we try to do it as little as possible and we still have medication from the pharmacy which we barley use anyway.
The rest of the day goes by uneventful, luckily.
It's now sometime around 9P.M. when Dean says, "I'm turning in, night." Everyone gives a reply of 'night' back and he leaves to his room. I don't know why but he's been avoiding me lately; I need to talk to him about that later.
A few minutes after Dean leaves Drew sits up and says, "I have an idea."
Jaydenn and I look at each other a little concerned. Drew's mind is, how do I put this, over active and odd. I'm afraid to ask what it is. Oh well, I really need a distraction anyways.
I nod for him to continue, shaking slightly because I'm still cold.
"I want to pull a prank on Dean. When we were at the Pack House we were in the middle of a prank war, and it's my turn. By now he thinks it's over so it's the best time to get him." He say's.
By the end there's a full on smile on Jay's face as well as mine.
"Tell us." I reply. A creepy smile forms on his face as he begins the plan.
-----
Drew and I run inside Walmart, shaking from the cold, now having the last thing we needed for the plan. I can't believe the big bad wolf is scared of this thing.
I place it on the correct shelf and meet Drew and Jay at his bedroom door. Sometimes I forget we live in Walmart. Drew hands me the air horn and I sneak in with them behind me. The light snoring confirms that Dean is asleep.
I walk up beside him and lean next to him. Drew is sure to cover his ears because of his sensitive hearing. To bad Dean won't be awake to cover his.
I blow the air horn right next to his ear causing him to fly out of the bed and hit the ground with a thud. I die laughing as well as Drew and Jaydenn beside me. Dean looks up and growls. All of the laughter stops immediately and we all run. That's the first time that I've heard him full on growl, and it's kind of disturbing.
We're careful to jump over the slick liquid substance on the ground, but Dean is unaware. We quickly stop and look back just in time to see Dean slip and fall flat on his back. Oil is some slick stuff.
"Like they say," Drew say's to Dean, "The fatter they are, the harder they fall!"
I'm unable to contain my laughter as we take off running again with a loud call, "Drew!" echoing behind us.
We get to the right isle and Drew picks up a pie tin filled with whipped cream. As soon as Dean rounds the corner the pie tin hits him smack in the face. He once again hits the ground with a thud, except this time he's covered in whipped cream.
We don't have time to take a second glace because he's already getting up. Again, we take off. We get to the correct isle and Drew carefully takes the small creature off of the shelf, out of the jar, and into his hand.
Dean rounds the corner and Drew hold the spider towards him making him halt in his tracks, his eyes going wide.
"Meet Mr. Sniffles!" Drew yells in a ridiculous voice and takes off after Dean with the large furry spider. Dean lets out a girly scream and takes off running. I chase behind Drew, Jaydenn behind me.
"Get that thing away from me!" Dean yells, running towards the pharmacy. Once he gets there, he jumps over the counter and literally climbs one of the shelves and sits on top.
"Tell me I win prank wars and I'll stop!" Drew threatens, pointing the spider towards him. He screams again and yells, "Ok! Ok! I surrender! You win!"
Drew laughs and puts it back in the jar. Dean climbs down and say's, "I think I just pi**ed my pants man."
We laugh but he glares, seeing no humor in it, which makes us laugh even harder.
"Big bad scardey wolf." I say between laughs.
