Chapter 10: Yellow

Sara's POV:

I grip Dean's fur even tighter as he makes a sharp left. We're in the forest heading for safe hunting ground. I used to be a game warden, and knew a pretty good place to go. Turns out that's werewolf land, which I'm just now figuring out.

Considering this is supposed to be a generation of war, it's pretty peaceful out here. I see a marked tree up ahead, meaning hunting land for the humans. This is also an old and unpopular piece of hunting ground because most of the deer were wiped out before we lowered the limit of game that could be taken.

I jerk forward when Dean and Drew come to a stop, slightly panting. I think I'm about to have a heart attack.

I jump off, stumbling a little when I land. Sure, I'm used to riding horses, but not even they go that fast. Jay seems completely unaffected as she jumps around rambling about how "cool that was." I roll my eyes and pull my bow off of my back while Dean and Drew shift back.

"Alright, so the game is either on the South side, or the North side," Dean say's, "If we end up on the wrong side, we may be out past night fall. I would just scent them out but the wind is blowing in all directions and is not in our favor. So, I think it would be best if we go in separate groups, I can't sense any wolves right now."

I nod my head in agreement; as long as there's no wolves. I'm about to speak up until Drew say's, "I could take Jay and you two could go together?"

"That's good," Dean reply's, "Your a Warrior Wolf so we're almost equal in strength."

"Yup, you got that right buddy," Drew say's swinging one arm around Dean's shoulder, "He's almost as strong as me." He finishes his sentence with a goofy smile.

Dean glares and shoves him away, causing him to shove back. A few shoves and pushes later and there's two children trapped in men's bodies wrestling on the ground.

"Girl's, girl's, your both pretty. Now stop wrestling or your gonna scare the game away." I say. The two, now covered in dirt, stand up glaring at each other. They're like a couple of children.

I roll my eyes and say, "I'm not letting Jaydenn leave my sight."

"Don't worry, I'll take care of her!" Drew say's, wrapping his arms around her over dramatically.

I think for a minute, if Dean could protect the both of us, then Drew can probably protect one of us.

"Listen Drew," I say walking up to him, "There's very few people I trust with her."

Even though I have to look up, I get in his face and point at him, "If anything happens to her, I'm coming after you first, got it?"

He frantically nods his head in understanding and I back away. I walk to Jay and hug her goodbye. I hear Drew mumble, "Dude, she's scary."

"We'll meet back here at 5:30." Dean say's as he looks down at his surprisingly still working watch.

As Dean and I are walking off I call out, "Watch over the baby!"

"I will!" Drew calls back.

"I was talking to Jay!" I shout back.

I hear Drew grumble under his breath and Dean chuckle beside me.

-----3:30P.M.-----

"We should head back." Dean say's with nothing but a rabbit in one hand while looking at his watch. I nod my head in agreement. Apparently we got the wrong side of the forest.

"I'm seriously craving a RedBull right now." I randomly comment, trying to break the awkward silence.

He chuckles a bit and replies, "I could go for a beer, sounds even better."

I just roll my eyes; sounds like a man.

"Have any pets back home? Aside from Zeus?" I ask.

"Nah, just him. You?" He asks.

"Yeah, two horses. Alpha and Luna." I laugh slightly at the irony of it. I suddenly worry when I see a wolf running towards us in the distance. Dean and I both freeze, then relax when we realize it's Drew and Jay. Drew has a dear is his mouth, holding it by the neck, while Jay is holding two rabbits.

Guess we really did get the wrong side.

Dean shifts and leans down so I can get on. Once I'm up, he takes off running towards Walmart. I suddenly feel a ripple of pain go through my stomach.

"Dean, stop." I tell him. He slowly comes to a stop, as well as Drew. I hold onto my stomach and groan slightly. Getting shot doesn't even hurt this bad, and I would know. I get off and lean up against him. He shifts and holds me up.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"I don't know, my stomach just burns really bad." I reply speaking my thoughts. As soon as it comes, it goes.

I stop breathing hard and stand up straight.

"It's gone." I say in confusion. Jay gets off of Drew and he shifts. Drew and Dean trade looks, then look back at me.

"What? Do you know what's going on?" I ask. Dean just shakes his head. Drew does too, but when he does I see yellow line my vision.

"I can see yellow." I say, shaking my head and rubbing my eyes as if it would help.

"I'll explain what I think is happening when we get back." Dean say's sternly as he shifts and leans down. What he "thinks" is happening?
