Chapter 17: You Need Me
(Colton Haynes as Alpha Jaxon Aragon Picture above)
Sara's POV:
I groan slightly at the ache in my back as I sit up from the cave floor. Dean happens to be sitting beside me so I look at his watch.
6:42AM.
If were lucky no one at the pack house is awake.
"Dean, wake up." I say, shaking him slightly. He does nothing but groan and roll over. I roll my eyes and step outside the cave. I pick up a good amount of snow and walk back in. I drop it on his face and he shoots up from his position.
"I said, wake up." I grumble at him. He rubs the snow from his hair and looks at his watch. I go to the duffle bag and grab a gun, putting it in the back of my jeans and feel my shirt for the knife that is still there.
"Dean? How do you know that it's your pack that has her?" I ask.
"If it's not them then it's the other. They just happened to be closest to us. Not only that, my pack is the only pack that has a spray that can disguise scent. They used it when they took her. That is unless the other pack some how got a hold of it." He reply's.
I'm going to trust that, I just hope he's right.
-----
We just crossed the borders of the pack, undetected. I'm riding on Dean's back so I don't get caught. Luckily, from what Dean say's, I have the scent of a wolf. As long as I don't shift I'm ok.
My heart breaks at the thought of them trying to put a thirteen year old girl through battle strategy. Knowing her she's going with what they say so they don't find me. It sounds like something she would do. Now I know why Dean left the pack. Their cruel.
My mind is so lost, I just now realize that we've stopped and Drew and Dean are both looking at me. I shake my head of my thoughts and jump off.
Were just outside the tree line of the pack house. The snow has now stopped and we have a clear view. What would give us away is our tracks in the snow. It never snow's in Texas, so I'm hoping it will melt quickly.
I watch as a man about Dean's size steps out of the house. He looks just like him. He looks familiar too. I look between the two and realize that their brothers. But when I said they looks familiar, I meant I've met him somewhere but I'm not sure where.
"That's Jaxon. The Alpha." Dean say's, his voice bitter and lined with hate.
"You failed to mention that your his brother." I confront him.
If I didn't have my hearing I wouldn't have heard the growl he let out under his breath. I feel Drew nudge me slightly so I turn to look at him. He ever so lightly shakes his head 'no.' So I shut up.
Jaxon scans the field so I quickly duck along with Dean and Drew. His eyes go over us completely as we go unnoticed. Our scent is covered by the snow, giving us a big advantage.
"If anywhere she's downstairs in the basement. It's possible she's on the fourth story though. If their trying to get her cooperation they will treat her properly. That is unless standards have changed since I've been gone." Dean say's from beside me.
"Are we still going on with the plan?" I ask.
He growls again and say's, "Yes, but know that I don't like it."
He walks a good distance away and shifts, nodding for me to get on his back. Once I'm on we head back to the cave.
"So you remember the plan?" Dean asks.
I nod my head and take the duffle bag. I put a few tares in my clothes and pull a few strings loose to make the look old.
"Be careful." Dean say's. I once again just nod. I give him and Drew both a quick hug and start the long walk there. On the way I pick up some dirt and rub it on my clothes. After about 15 minutes I make it to the tree lining again.
I step out into view just as Alpha Jaxon opens the door. He immediately see's me and watches me walk up.
"Can I help you?" He asks, one eyebrow raised and his eyes wandering a bit too much for my liking.
"I'm looking for Alpha Xander." I reply.
"He's passed on. I'm Alpha Jaxon." He reply's, he say's it so normally it freaks me out a little. He extends his hand for me to take so I do so.
"I'm sorry to hear that." I reply.
"What do you need?" He asks.
Dean told me that lone-wolves would be more welcome than rouges, so here goes nothing.
"I'm a lone-wolf, I'm looking to join you in battle." I reply, bowing my head in respect.
Kill me now.
"You expect me to let a random stranger join my pack?" He ask's.
"Alpha Jaxon, I say this with all do respect. But you are in no position to turn me down. I easily walked straight through your border patrol undetected. Your wolves don't have proper training. Not only that but your low on, how do I say this, staff. I know how to fight. I will show you if I must. I can train your wolves properly. You need me and I'm willing. So, what do you say?" I ask, going by the information that Dean gave me.
He stares with a blank expression for a moment. Almost like he's debating the pros and cons.
"What is you name?" He asks.
"Sara. Sara Lovek." I reply, changing my last name so that I don't give myself away.
"Sara Lovek, you are welcome to the East Ridge Pack." He say's, adding a barley noticeable smile at the end.
