Chapter 27: See You At Walmart
Drew's POV:
It's been three long weeks that Sara's been in a coma. Right after Sara had passed out Alpha Blake let us take her to his pack doctor. She had lost a lot of blood and was unconscious when we arrived. They were able to fix her wound, which still hasn't fully healed, but they had to put her in a coma in order to do it.
They gave her the medicine to bring her out of it, but it didn't work. Dean hasn't eaten for two weeks and he's lost at least 20 pounds. He won't leave her side, not even to shower. Jaydenn won't leave either but she still showers and eats. Problem is, neither of them will talk.
I'm sitting outside Sara's room with Dean beside me and Jaydenn way on the other end of the hall, not wanting to be near anyone. Dean smells something awful, it's hard to sit next to him. We were forced to leave her room so the doctors could run some test over something to do with a cat.
My goal today is to get Dean to talk. He's sitting with his head in his hands and his elbows on his knees.
"Hey." I say, poking him in the side. He's ticklish there so it causes him to squirm a bit but he still ignores me.
An idea suddenly pops in my head.
"Here, maybe this will cheer you up." I say, just as expected he still doesn't move.
"Fine, if you won't hold him then I'll just put Mr. Sniffles on your shoulder." I tell him. He suddenly bolts out of the chair, falling on the ground in the process.
"Where is it?!" He yells, scrambling to get up.
"No where, I just wanted you to talk." I reply. He glares at me and sits back down in his recent position.
"Dean." I whine, dragging out the word. When we were little I could always cheer him up, or at least get him to talk again.
"Go bother Jay." He grumbles.
"No way, no way am I doing that again." I reply.
"And why is that?" He asks, actually looking at me now. It's about time I'm getting somewhere.
"She was sitting at Sara's bedside when you went to the bathroom and I kept poking her, trying to get her to talk. So, she grabs the clock by the bed and throws it at me. See," I say, pulling my shirt up, revealing a bruise, "I still have the bruise."
He rolls his eyes and I can tell he's holding back a smile.
The doctor opens the door to tell us something, when suddenly a loud beep rings through the room. My heart stops when I recognize the familiar sound of the heart monitor. Dean turns to me with the look of pure horror on his face. We jump up to run in but the nurses won't let us by.
I'm forced to drag him back to the waiting room chair and force him to sit down. When I sit beside him he leans on me and lets out what he's been holding in for the past three weeks. I've knows Dean since we were two, not that I even remember meeting him, and not once have I seen him cry this hard, not even when he would fall off of his bike.
His tears are drenching my shirt but I don't let it bother me. After about 20 minutes Dean collects himself and he's just leaning on me with a dead look on his face.
Another 5 minutes and the doctor comes out. Dean propels out of his chair and is in front of the doctor in record time. I jump up and run to him as well.
"We tried." The doctor say's, the two words say it all. I watch as all emotion drains from Dean's face and he shoves past the doctor. I walk in behind him and see that the heart monitor is completly flat lined.
After getting a good look Dean charges at the doctor. I catch him just in time before he is able to hurt him. He screams swear words and profanities at the man as I try to hold him back. I happen to get a glance over his shoulder and see Jaydenn has both hands on Sara's arm with her eyes closed. No way...
"Dean look." I tell him, he completely ignores me and continues to tell off the petrified doctor. I shove him as hard as I can, causing him to stumble backwards.
"Shut you face for a few seconds and look you ding dong!" I yell, pointing towards Jay. I don't exactly like swearing.
He finally turns around and looks. Our eyes widen when the monitor comes back to life. Not only that, Sara's eyes snap open and she lurches forward, now choking on the life support they have on her. The doctor is yelling commands and after a few minutes they have all of the wires off of her.
We all sit beside her and she looks at Dean, "You look like crap." She grumbles, her voice hoarse.
He smiles and laughs a little, something I haven't seen in a while.
"How did you do that?" I ask Jaydenn.
"I don't know. My wolf Mira, she told me to try it." She responds, her voice raspy for not using it in so long.
"She's a therapeftís," Dean say's, "It's Greek for healer."
Sara just smiles, she looks exhausted even though she's been asleep.
"We only have at least twenty minutes before everything goes back to normal." Dean say's.
"What do you mean?" Sara asks.
"Well, know that you are awake and uh, alive, at midnight the people will be put back on earth. You will be where ever you where when all of them disappeared. Kind of like going back in time, but now Alpha Blake will now be Alpha of us all. Meet me at Walmart?" Dean ask's.
She nod's her head and say's, "Oh, I have something for you. Give me my jacket." I get up and retrieve it for her. She rummages through the pockets until she finds a note and hands it to Dean.
"Mira said to tell you hello. She helped Jaydenn and I." She tells him.
He looks at her after reading the note and say's, "She's my sister. Mira Aragon. Jaxon told me she was dead."
"Well, she's not." Sara say's smiling.
I knew the woman that Jaxon pulled a knife on looked familiar, but I was too focused on Sara to give it a second thought.
After a little catching up on everything, it is not 11:59PM.
"Well," I announce, "I'll see you all at Walmart."
Right after, a blinding white light appears and everything goes black.
