Chapter 21: I Told You So

Dean's POV: (Before Drew is caught)

I'm currently pacing outside with nothing better to do. I'm worried about Sara but she cut me off and I still can't talk to her. I hope she knows that until she lets me through I can't contact her. Jaxon was never respectful towards women and that's what worry's me.

Jaxon was a real jerk when he left the pack. What bothers me is he comes back years later and is suddenly Mr. Nice and Proper. I left out creep.

I lost what little respect I had left for him when I found out he left his pregnant wife behind just to become Alpha. I never cared to know who she was, I found out because people talk.

Drew comes out of the cave and ask's, "Can't we just go check on her?"

"I don't know, they probably doubled border patrol since she just walked through like that." I reply.

"Come on, you know you want to." Drew say's, dragging out the "to."

"Fine, but I'm not saving your sorry self if you get caught." I reply. He smiles and shifts, taking off. We can't get away with being so close to the border for much longer. The snow is melting and our scent will travel much farther now.

If we do stay we will have to bathe in dirt to keep our scent at bay, and I'm not fond of the idea.

Once we cross the border we stop and shift before reaching the tree lining. We begin to walk when suddenly an arrow hits the tree right beside Drew.

"Would this be a bad time to say I told you so?" I ask.

Drew and I both take off running, but we only make it about 20 meters when Drew is tackled to the ground.

"Run!" He shouts. I debate fighting until I see about six more wolves heading our way. So, I run.

It's best at least one of us is free.

-----Sara's POV (Present Time)-----

It's now nine thirty and most of the pack is asleep getting a good rest for training tomorrow. Training that they won't get because I'll be gone. I had Jaydenn go upstairs and "Sleep." She's actually packing the duffle bag of anything we could use.

I know Dean isn't far, but anything could happen.

Being around Jaxon is now really awkward. To me anyway. He seem's perfectly fine, like nothing ever happened. Like right now, he's the only one up in the living room with me and it's like were "friends" again.

I decide to go to bed, hoping he will do the same. I stand up and walk the three flights of stairs. Once I'm in my room I plop down on the bed. Jay comes out of the bathroom and lays down, more like falls down, on top of me then say's, "Oops sorry." and rolls beside me.

I aim to smack her in the head but end up hitting her face because my head is faced down on the bed.

"Hey!" she yells and pops my bra strap.

"Ow!" I yell, taking a pillow and hitting her in the face.

She mimics my actions and we suddenly stop when I hear something slide across the floor. I look at the door and see another note.

"I've been getting these lately." I tell Jay as I open the paper.

He know's who is who. Leave before ten thirty in order to avoid border patrol. Leave before ten in order to leave before effects of the drug take place and to avoid border patrol. The keys to Drew's cell are in Jaxon's office desk. Good luck, M. A. Oh, and tell Dean I said hello.

Mira maybe? I never knew her last name though.

Drugs? What drug? It suddenly hits me, my food. Jaxon knows it's me because that smell didn't come from Jay's plate, it came from mine. I glance at the clock and see that it's 9:47PM.

"We need to leave now. I will be back Jay, don't leave this room." I command. She nods her head so I pull the door open and jog down the the third story of the house.

I know where his office is because the door has Private written on it, and he took me here on the first day I came.

I pull open the door and silently call him a fool for leaving it unlocked. I run to his desk and pull open the top drawer and rummage through it, nothing.

I continue this until I get to the third drawer. I pull it open and see the keys on top. I grab them and put everything back in place. When I shut his office door back I run straight into a wall that I don't remember being there.

I look up and meet Jack's eyes. Not Jaxon's eyes, Jack's. The cold hearted one's that are very familiar.

"Why were you in my office?" He ask's, irritation leaking through.

"I was looking for you." I reply, clutching the keys tightly behind my back.

"You were looking for me in my office at this hour? Wouldn't I be in my room?" He asks.

"Your right, I'm sorry. It was just subconscious to go there, that's where you were all of the other times. And uh, I forgot where your room is." I reply.

He just hums in response and walks off with one final glare. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and I jog to my room.

It's now 9:54PM, so I need to hurry.

I pull the window open and put the duffle bag beside it. I grab a silver knife and put it in my jacket pocket. "Be ready when I get back." I tell Jaydenn, shutting the door right after. I don't have time for a response.

I jog down the stairs and see Jaxon no where to be found. I pat my jacket to feel the knife, a silent comfort it's still there.

I jog to the basement door and quickly slip inside. I begin to get dizzy so I lean on the wall for support. Not now, just a few more minutes, please.
