Chapter 22: Some Christmas
Sara's POV: (Josh Holloway as Alpha Blake Stanford Picture above)
I quickly recover from the dizzy spell and continue down the stairs and into the basement. It's dark, but thanks to my improved sight I can see. I walk down the rows of prison like cell's until I find Drew asleep in one.
"Rise and shine, doofus. Get up." I call, unlocking the door in the process.
His head snaps up and he looks at me. He quickly gets up and as soon as I get the door open he runs out.
"Calm down and be quiet. He drugged me and we have to get out of here before they take effect." I announce.
"Your slurring your words a little." He say's.
I just push him behind me so I can lead him. We need to get out of here before I pass out. I lead him up the 3 flights of stairs, luckily without one glance of Jaxon.
I open the door and stumble inside. Drew catches me from falling and I walk to the window.
"Get on Drew's back." I tell Jay, not trusting myself at the moment.
She does as told and I throw the duffle bag over my shoulder. I balance in the window sill and say a silent prayer before jumping. I hit the ground hard enough to knock the wind out of me. Drew fallows not to soon after and he shifts into his wolf.
I take the duffle bag off of my shoulder and shift, picking the bag up with my jaws and we take off running. Half way there and I begin to stumble, tripping over thin air. I'm beginning to slowly lose feeling in my legs.
In the distance I see Dean running towards us. I hear a howl erupt through the forest, meaning they know were gone. About 20 meters away I stumble again, but this time, I go down for good. I was running at least 90 miles an hour, meaning I made a few painful flips before I came to a stop, unable to get up.
"Sara!" is the last thing I hear from Dean before I'm out.
-----Dean's POV-----
"Sara!" I yell when I see her topple down and shift human. I hear the wolves in the distance, so I pick her up bridal style after throwing the duffle bag over my shoulder and run in human form.
"What happened?!" I ask Drew.
"Jaxon drugged her before we left the house. Would it be a bad time to say Merry Christmas?!" He yells back, a giddy smile on his face.
"A little, yeah!" I reply. Like I said, it'd be nice to have that trait of idiocy and happiness. Not being able to run in my wolf form is slowing us down so I need to think of something. It was a three hour trip here running in wolf form from Walmart, there's no way I could make it there on foot.
I take the chance to turn around and I see them gaining.
'Fallow me and don't trip!' I tell Drew through a mind-link.
He gives a quick 'ok' and I make a sharp left, heading for the more ticketed side of the woods. There are tons of trails and the scent of pure pine, we could lose them easily.
I'm careful with Sara as I dodge tree's, roots, and thorn covered vines. The smell of pine and cedar is a little overwhelming on my nose. After a few more twists and turns I begin to lose their scent. A few minutes later and I can no longer hear them.
Another few minutes and I know were safe so I slow to a stop. I gently put Sara down and try to catch my breath. All of this pine around me is not helping.
"Is Sara gonna be ok?" Jaydenn ask's, sitting down beside her.
"She'll be fine. It just takes a while for the drug to wear off." I reply.
She just nods her head and start messing with a leaf of some sort.
"Who are you and why are you on my land?" A voice comes from behind me. I spin around and see Blake Stanford, Alpha of the West Mountain Pack, pointing a gun with a few other wolves behing him.
"Oh come on!" I yell throwing my arms in the air.
"You have the scent of the East Ridge pack all over you, well, you three do." He say's, refering to Jaydenn, Drew, and Sara.
"That's because we were held captive." Sara's say's, suddenly sitting up and rubbing the back of her head.
"What happened to you?" Alpha Blake ask's, one eyebrow raised along with his gun.
"Alpha Jaxon happened to me." She grumbles, standing up with Jaydenn's assistance.
He chuckles and lowers his gun, "Yeah, he'll do that to you."
"If you don't mind, we'll be heading back to our house." I say, helping Sara stand.
He nods his head in understanding that we're not a threat, "If you need assistance, let us know. One question though. For the blonde." He say's, referring to Sara.
"Are you Jaxon's mate?" He ask's.
I growl at the thought of him having his hands on her.
"No. More like his weapon." She grumbles the last part but he hears.
"Your a cat." He states.
"And I'm the one with the big mouth." Drew say's, rolling his eyes.
"You are." Sara argues.
"Don't worry, your secrets safe," he smiles, "What's the point in having a weapon that refuses to work? Anyway, good luck when war sounds. Oh, and... Merry Christmas."
With that said, he walks off, his pack tailing him.
"It's about time I met an Alpha that's not half psychotic half creep." Sara say's, causing Drew to laugh.
"Yeah," Drew say's, "Some Christmas."
