Chapter 14: Nightmares Become Reality
Sara's POV:
I wake up and laugh slightly at the memory of last night. Of course Dean refused to help us clean up. That's understandable. The prank helped enlighten everone's mood. It was a good idea. In the end, Dean had to laugh.
Turns out he has Arachnophobia.
What I'm afraid of now, is that he ended prank wars with Drew. And because I helped with everything, he claimed prank wars agains't me. I wonder what he's planning. I guess I'll just have to find out when it happens.
I get up and shiver at the temperature, I'm surprised one of us hasn't yet gotten sick. I step into the living room and see everyone's already up. I plop on the couch in the same clothes I wore yesterday. I can't stand that, wearing the same clothes again without them being washed.
"We need to get some cleanser and wash our clothes in the lake." I say, referring to the piles of clothes in our rooms and in the clothes isle. I'm bored out of my mind, I've read more books in the last few weeks than I have my entire life.
Dean nods his head but doesn't say anything.
"Jay wanna help me?" I ask.
She nods and start picking up clothes. I decide to go change into something warmer. After that I grab some laundry soap and a few sets of clothes and meet Jay back in the living room.
"We'll come with," Dean announces, "We'll meet you there. We're gonna get a few baskets and more clothes."
I nod my head and walk out the door with Jay. After a few minutes of walking we get to the lake. Luckily we don't need a wolf taxi to get here. I set the clothes down and dip some into the water and scrub them with soap.
Jay sits down and does the same thing.
"Can I tell you something?" She suddenly asks.
"Anything." I reply.
"I've been having nightmares. The one's that feel real." She say's.
I stiffen at the thought. I'm overreacting again, "What are they about?" I ask.
"Their about a man, but I'm never able to see his face. Every time he always takes me away from you, every time were in the woods but it's always a different situation." She reply's.
I look at her and see light blue, fear.
"This, this was one of those situations." She finishes.
I stop washing and put the clothes on the ground. We need to get out of here. Now.
"Get up." I say.
"What's wrong?" She asks, standing in the process.
"We need to get out of here. Jaydenn I'm having the same nightmares." I reply.
"Hold my hand, and don't let go, do you understand me?" I ask sternly.
"That's what you told me in the dream." She say's shaking, tears of fear gathering in her eyes
"Which way did I go?" I ask.
"The same direction we took to get here." She reply's, tears falling freely.
"Listen to me Jaydenn, don't cry ok? Were gonna be ok, but I need you to do exactly as I say." I say, wiping the lone tear that rolls down her face.
She nods her head and I grab her hand, heading for the tallest tree. I pray that I can do this.
"Get on my back and hold on tight." I instruct. She does as I say and gets on.
I grab the nearest branch and climb. My muscle burns from the extra weight but some how I manage. I get her on the tallest branch and I sit on the one below her. I suddenly feel the ground vibrate and hear the thud thud thud of paws in the distance.
They get louder and louder until eventually their right below me... two brown wolves.
Dean where are you?
I ask myself, hoping that some how he will make it here. There were a lot of clothes in the back. I watch as a man that was behind them investigates our clothes.
I see the feather tattoo but I still can't get a good view of his face. As if sensing my presence his head snaps up to me and he looks directly in my eyes. I glare as he walks under the tree and looks up.
He pulls an arrow from his back and aims at Jaydenn.
"No!" I yell, standing up on the branch, almost falling.
Jaydenn whimpers behind me and I mumble, "Jaydenn, I need you to trust me. Like I said, do what I say and get on my back."
She doesn't say anything but I know she heard me when she climbs down one branch and gets on my back. I slowly make my way down the tree.
Dean told me about the mind link, I wonder if it will work, I'm shifting right?
Dean...
I call, praying for a reply. Half way down the tree I hear, Sara? Quietly echo through my mind. I can only get a few words through for some reason, so I say the one thing I know he will understand.
Rouge.
I hear a growl and then, nothing.
I finally touch the ground and turn around. I let Jaydenn down and make sure her back is up against the tree.
"What do you want?" I ask. He has coal black hair and green eyes.
His gaze shifts between the two of us and he say's, "Were looking for Sara Marshall. The girl behind you."
"Your mistaken." I reply.
"Is that so?" He asks, and eyebrow raised with the arrow still pointing my way. I suddenly hear fighting in the distance. Their holding Drew and Dean back.
"I'm Sara." I reply.
"Get the little girl." He commands.
There's no way I can reason with them. "Run!" I yell, shoving Jaydenn away. The brown wolf jumps at me, I take the chance at throwing a punch at it. It whimpers slightly and shakes it's head, blood pouring from it's nose.
I don't know where this strength came from, but I like it. They surprise me by all running away. I turn and look for Jaydenn but she's no where to be seen.
I frantically run through the forest yelling, "Jaydenn!"
I keep calling with no answer, until I hear an ear shattering scream. I take off running into the direction of the heart breaking noise and come to a halt when I see a man holding Jaydenn's unconscious body in his arms.
Two brown wolves separate me from them. They let out a threatening growl.
A warning.
I see the man with Jaydenn take off North. It charges towards me. I stand my ground. I squeeze my eyes shut and brace for impact that never comes.
I open my eyes and see the familiar wolves of Drew and Dean fighting them off. That wasn't part of the dream. I don't have time for this, I take off running in the direction of the man, hoping I can catch up.
