Chapter 20: Look Familiar, Jack?

Sara's POV:

I groan and stretch my arms out, hitting something beside me. I open my eyes only to clamp them shut because of the blinding sunlight. I look again and my eyes slowly adjust. It's just Jaydenn.

We need to leave tonight. I hope I can get through one more day of this without Jaxon trying something again. I bet I'm on his bad side now. I roll my eyes and swing my legs over the bed. After a quick shower I shake Jaydenn awake.

"Wake up before I drag you out of bed. Again." I whine. She eventually sits up and glares at me.

"Hey, it's not my fault your not a morning person." I playfully glare back. After she has a quick shower we head down stairs. And just my luck Jaxon is the only one up. Who in this universe is out to get me? I sit down at the breakfast bar and Jay sits beside me.

Believe it or not he's cooking. I don't know why but the talent just doesn't fit him. Suddenly someone barges through the front door, causing Jay and I both to jump. I turn around and see a border guard has Drew with his hands bound behind his back.

I should have seen that coming.

He looks at me and smiles innocently. Idiot.

"Alpha, he was found crossing the border with another man. The other one happened to get away and this one refuses to tell us who he was. But we have caught Drew." The guard say's. Jaxon dismisses him and Drew just stands there rocking back and forth on his feet, whistling, while looking at the sealing.

"Nice to see you again Drew." Jaxon say's, turning off the stove and setting the bacon aside.

"I wish I could say the same. Oh wait, no I don't." Drew reply's, smiling like an idiot. I wish I had that trait. To always be able to see the bright side and smile no matter the situation. I'd like to cut out the stupid part though.

"You haven't changed much now have you?" Jaxon say's, crossing has arms over his chest, obviously annoyed with Drew's behaviour.

"Nope, not really." He reply's.

"Mind telling me who was with you?" Jaxon ask's.

"Just a little bit." He reply's.

After a very childish argument Jaxon has one of the pack warriors put Drew in a cell down stairs. Great, now I have to rescue the idiot as well.

When Jaxon finishes cooking he puts two plates down in front of Jay and I containing three pancakes, bacon, and eggs each. The smell is amazing but it's off. It doesn't smell right for some reason. Blaming it on my cat I begin to eat.

-----

It's currently 5 o'clock and time isn't passing fast enough for me. I'm sitting on the couch with Mira and Jaydenn just having a conversation. Mira told us about how she was mateless as well, and this gets more common when war breaks out.

Because this happens more, which they just found out the frequency of it, they stopped kicking mateless members out of the pack. Sadly it went into effect right after Dean and Drew left. That's why the pack is so "small" compared to the West Mountain Pack.

Mira told me about Jaxon becoming a rouge after his mate died, but was welcomed back to the pack with open arms after Drew was kicked off as Alpha. I'm starting to think Drew made a better Alpha, and that's saying something.

I still can't put my finger on how I know Jaxon, but I know that I do. Somehow.

Jaxon walks in the living room and sits down, talking to Mira. I'm lost in thought but come back to reality when he starts yelling at Mira.

Apparently I missed the whole argument because he yells, "Get out!" causing her to scurry away. That's when I remember.

-----Flash back (Before Jaydenn was born)-----

Still Sara's POV:

I'm sitting in the living room with Amelia, my sister, waiting for her husband Jack to get home. She's pregnant and Jack is a violent man, so she wanted me to be there when she tells him. I've tried to convince her to leave but she's just to scared to do so, something I won't ever understand.

I hate to say this, but she is way to young to be pregnant.

The front door fly's open and Jack walks in, slamming it shut behind him.

"Why is she here?" He asks, pointing at me.

"Jack I need to tell you something." She announces.

"What?" he asks.

"I'm pregnant." She say's.

He looks at her for a minute then yells, "Are you kidding me?! I can barely support you as it is! I'm working two jobs only to come home to this-"

I tune the rest of it out because I can't stand to hear it.

"Get out!" He yells at us both. I grab Amy's arm, Amy being short for Amelia, and drag her out the front door while tears fall from her face.

------ Flash back over-----

I bolt to my feet but freeze in place. This is Jaydenn's father and she doesn't even know it.

"What?!" Jaxon asks, fuming. Just then I realize I'm staring.

"Nothing." I reply, grabbing Jaydenn's arm and dragging her up the stairs. My ego gets the best of me and I turn around once I'm at the top of the stairs.

He stares back at me and I ask, "Look familiar, Jack?"

I don't look for his reaction as I continue to my room. Now we really need to get out of here.
