Chapter 12: Warning

Sara's POV:

I lay in my room staring at the ceiling, it's completely dark, some time around two in the morning. I haven't been able to sleep at all. After an awkward dinner last night, Dean told me it would probably be six more months before a full-on war broke out.

Six months to have to survive. Our water supply is slowly running out, but there's still quite a bit in the back storage room. Lately we've been taking a bottle of shampoo and showering in the pond near by. I would take Jaydenn and keep a look out for her and she would do the same for me. I guess after we run out we will have to find a natural spring and get water from that.

I pull the covers closer to me, attempting to keep warm. It's officially winter and we have no power. I hate showering in that lake now. A few minutes later I give up on sleeping and lift the covers. The cold pricks my skin and I quickly pull up a pair of sweat pants.

I was wearing just a tank top and underwear, I regret it now. I walk in the living room and see Drew asleep on top of a blanket, book in hand, and Jay by his side with them covered up. I guess he fell asleep reading to her.

I sit down on the couch and grab a book, my only source of entertainment. I start reading and a few minutes later, I feel the book fall from hand. I jerk my head up and realize I was falling asleep. I put the book back and plop down on my bed. It was senseless to even attempt to read it, I don't remember a thing that my eyes just ran over.

A few minutes later I growl in irritation, I can't sleep. Again!

I get up and shiver at the cold. I walk to Dean's room and see him peacefully sleeping. I'm freezing, and I'm desperate. Maybe he won't notice. I silently make my way to his bed. The left side of his bed is pressed against the wall with him facing it, his back to me.

I slide my way into the bed. I scoot closer to him, but make sure I'm not touching him. I face my back to him, satisfied with the warmth, and attempt once again to sleep.

I feel Dean shuffle and his arm wraps around my waist. He pulls me into him and puts his head in the crook of my neck. I can tell he's still asleep by his slow breathing, so I decide to leave it. The sparks his skin leaves on mine is addictive and comforting.

I close my eyes and slowly dose off into what I thought would be a peaceful sleep.

-----Dream-----

I frantically run through the forest yelling, "Jaydenn!"

I keep calling with no answer, until I hear an ear shattering scream. I take off running into the direction of the heart breaking noise and come to a halt when I see a man holding Jaydenn's unconscious body in his arms. I can't see his face at all, it's like a blur.

All I can see is the Indian feather tattoo snaking up his left arm.

Two brown wolves separate me from them. I pull an arrow and they let out a threatening growl.

A warning.

I see the man with Jaydenn take off North and I let the arrow go, it hits the wolf but does nothing to effect it. It charges towards me.

The last thing I remember is razor sharp teeth flying towards my neck.

-----Dream over-----

I jerk up from my sleep, panting and sweating. This makes Dean wake up and he looks at me confused, probably wondering what's wrong and why I'm in his bed. Would I be crazy to call that a warning?

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"Nothing, just a nightmare." I reply. I grab his watch off of his end table and see the time is 4:23AM.

"Sorry, I got cold." I announce, putting his watch back and throwing my legs over the edge of the bed.

"Do you want me to get up with you?" He asks, right as I'm about to leave.

"No, but thanks." I reply. All I want right now is to see Jaydenn.

I jog into the living room and see both her and Drew gone. Panic sets in as I run to her room. I push the flimsy cardboard door open and see her asleep in her bed. I let out a sigh of relief as I lean on the shelf.

I've never had such a realistic dream before, I felt the wind on my face, the dirt in between my toes, the fear, but most of all, the anger. If I didn't have proof that it wasn't, I would say that it was real.

Jaydenn suddenly shifts and sits up.

"Sara?" She asks, rubbing the sleep from her eyes, "Is everything okay?"

"Uh, yeah. Everything's fine, I'll see you in the morning." I reply, leaving before she could say any more. I walk in the living room and sit down, hoping time will pass quickly.

-----9:18A.M.-----

I see something move out of my peripheral vision and look up. Jay walks out of her room rubbing her eyes. She plops down on the couch next to me and sighs. Yes, for four hours I've been sitting here. There's nothing to do and I am so bored.

That dream still lingers in the back of my mind. It's been replaying in my head over and over. The thought of this happening strikes fear and anger through me.

I've grown tired of colors lining my sight. It's very distracting, so I learned how to control it. It now only comes when I want it to.

I don't know how I did it, but I did. Dean and Drew don't seem to be getting up anytime soon. Jay and I need to take a shower but that dream haunts me too much to step foot out there.

All I can do it hope it doesn't happen.
