Chapter 19: A Dog Or A Dead Man
Sara's POV:
I'm currently sitting in the living room with Mira. I know where Jaydenn's room is, and I know I can get away with her. It's just that Jaxon has been by my side everywhere I go. I can tell he's paranoid of me. Not only that, but his eye's wander to much for my liking.
I have to admit he's attractive but he gives me the creeps.
It's currently 11:39PM and I'm exhausted. My cuts and injuries were treated and healed quickly because of my cat. I learned that my cats name is Armani. Having someone talk in my head is going to take some getting used to.
Mira say's something that makes Jaxon laugh, so I play along because I wan't listening. I give a toothy smile, something I don't usually do, but whatever it was seemed to be pretty hilarious. For some reason Jaxon's gaze won't leave my face. I shift uncomfortably and he gets the hint to look away. Like I said, he has a creep factor.
'How is everything? Getting anywhere?' I hear Dean's voice echo through my head.
'Everything's fine. If all goes well I'll be home by day after tomarrow, sometime during the night. Their keeping Jay in a room not but two doors down from mine.' I reply.
'Good. Be careful.' He say's.
'I will.' I reply.
I glance around the living room and see the calendar. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. Hopefully we will be home Christmas night.
"I think I'm going to turn in." I announce, mostly for Mr. Creeper.
"Good night." He say's. I just simply nod in return.
Once I'm up the stairs and out of view I shudder.
"Kill me now." I grumble under my breath.
I suddenly hear silent foot steps behind me. I don't have to turn around to know it's Jaxon. I subconsciously quicken my pace as I jog up the second flight of stairs. They seem to get closer with every second. I nearly bolt up the third flight as I make my way towards my room. I suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder, forcing me to turn around.
Jaxon shoves me into the wall beside my room and presses his body against mine. Now I really wish I were dead. He puts one hand on my hip and one on my neck.
"You have very sharp teeth." He say's, referring to the point that formed on my canines when I shifted.
"Uh, yeah. Came from my mom's side." I nervously laugh. Nervous?! I'm an officer! A Marine! I don't get nervous! I've faced worse!
I'm so wrapped up in my own rant I don't realize how close his face is to mine. I'm about to complain when suddenly his lips are on mine. I stay frozen in my place, not moving. He bites my lip lightly, trying to get me to respond.
I try to shove him off but he's stronger than me. I forcefully turn my head the other way and he just goes to my neck. I hear a growl echo in my mind but I just ignore it. Think, think, think.
"Jaxon, don't you have a mate?" I ask.
"No. I'm mateless," He say's, "And from your scent, so are you."
Mateless, yes. Desperate, no.
I try to push him off and he still doesn't move. He only presses his body harder into mine. He starts tugging at my shirt and that's when I realize I need to stop this, and now.
I build up all of my strength and shove him, causing him to hit the opposite wall.
"I may be mateless, but this is not what I came here for." I tell him, as I walk into my room slamming the door, leaving behind an angry Alpha.
(Bold is Dean, italic is Sara.)
"Who put their hands on you?!"
"How do you know that?"
"Sara, just answer the question."
"I got him to leave me alone, ok? Now you leave me alone Dean." I reply, blocking him from my mind. I don't know why he care's anyway.
'He cares because he is out mate.' Armani echo's through my mind.
"What?" I ask.
'Don't be foolish Sara, he is our mate. I will explain more when we get home to him.' She replys.
I try to get more out of her but she ignores me. She's crazy if she thinks I agree with this. I plop down on my bed, already half asleep.
My eyes suddenly snap open when I hear Jay scream. I rush up and swing my door open. I look in the hallway and see a man, the one that took her and the one that I fought, trying to wrestle her into her room.
"Drop her!" I yell.
His head snaps up to me and he does as told saying, "Yes, Luna."
Luna? Whatever.
I drop by her side on the floor and wrap her in my arms. Mira and Jaxon, along with a few other pack members run up the stairs at the sudden noise.
I rest my chin on the top of her head and let her cry.
"What is going on here?!" Jaxon's voice booms through the house.
"She refused to go in her room, Sir." He responds, head down in respect.
Jaxon begins to yell, but for me it isn't enough. I let go of Jay and stand up. When I do everyone goes silent and the man looks at me, causing me to see fear.
I grab him by the collar and slam him into the dry wall, I hear a crack and know I split the wall with the help of the strength from my cat.
"If you put your hands on the girl one more time, I'll beat you so bad they won't know rather to medicaly treat you as a dog or a dead man, understand?" I growl out. He frantically nods his head and I shove him to the ground.
I sit back down and let Jay hug me tightly.
"She seems fond of you. Why don't you watch over her." Jaxon asks.
"Why is she here?" I ask him, he stiffens at the question.
"She was found wandering the forest alone." He reply's, and walks away.
I let the lie go so I don't raise his suspicion. At least he just made it a lot easier for us to leave.
