There's voices from the hallway and Shai and I freeze when Ruth's voice is there too.

Shai's laying on her back with her head in my lap, we were just talking about some random shit.

"....Can sleep on the couch," Ruth's voice says happily. I'm wondering who she's talking to.

Shai sits up slowly and I stand, "Okay... I'll just wait until she's inside, then I will pretend that I was with Miles or something."

"Okay," Shai says, her voice is low.

I chuckle, "it's not like she can hear you. You don't have to whisper."

She smiles, "you're right"

When the hallway's silent, I take on my shoes and open the door only a few inches and look out. The hall is empty and the door into my apartment is closed, there's happy voices and laughs behind the door.

I feel Shai behind me, I turn around and roll my eyes, "I'm telling you, if she brought some of her friends, be ready for me to crash on your couch tonight."

Shai giggles, "I don't think Ruth would appreciate that"

I shrug, "I don't care. Okay, I better leave."

Shai lies a hand on my back to say goodbye, I walk out of the door closing it behind me.

As I open the door into my own apartment, I see Ruth standing with her two friends, Marilyn and Clarisse.

"Hi, baby!" Ruth says and takes a step closer to me. When her lips touch mine, the picture of Shai in her blue bikini runs through my head. "Marilyn and Clarisse will sleep here for the night, if you don't mind."

"Great. I'll take the couch" I say, not really happy about it.

Ruth smiles. "Great," then she returns talking with her friends, they all three own this annoying, hysterical laugh, that I can't listen to for more than a second before getting annoyed by it.

I walk into the bedroom and sit on the couch listening to their conversation until I decide to leave again.

"I'll go see Ansel" I tell Ruth and head through the door.

I knock on Ansel's door down the hall, he opens up immediately. I rush inside before I even saying hi.

"For God's sake help me," I say and sit down in the couch.

"What's going on?" Ansel asks curious and sits down by my side.

"Ruth brought two friends"

"So?"

I look at him with big eyes, "they're going to stay for the night. In my bed. In my apartment."

Ansel chuckles, "cozy"

"She didn't even ask me before she invited them," I tell him, his eyes widen. "And it's not like it's her living there. She's only here for two days more."

"Well... That's..." Ansel says.

"That's what she's like," I tell him. "Constantly bossing around with me"

"You need to... How do you even feel about her?" Ansel says. "I mean, you're not really acting like you're in love with her. What's going on?"

"Maybe I'm not?" I say in a low voice. "I'm beginning to ha..." I stop myself. I was close to say that I'm beginning to have feelings for Shai instead, but I won't like Ansel to know. Not yet. But if I really was in love with Ruth, then I wouldn't have fallen for Shai, would I?

"I've been thinking that maybe I should cut off things with her," I say because it's true. "I mean... Now, before it gets too bad between us"

"Yeah..." Ansel says. "Maybe."

I decide just to decide that later, talking with Ansel about things like that, I don't really find natural. I mean, we're close friends and all that, but not so close that it's normal for us to talk about stuff like that.

Also, it's more like a girls thing to talk about boys together, guys keep if for ourselves most of the times. We don't need advice from a friend to decide whether or not we're in love, it's just a thing that we know by ourselves.
