Lori enters the kitchen and Shai pulls back from the kiss to look at her mom.

"Honey," Lori says. "Have you taken the black plastic sacks? I can't find them anywhere."

For a moment Shai looks like she can't remember, but then, "Oh, yes, they're in the car already."

"Great," Lori says. "We're leaving now."

Then she walks out of the front door, in direction of the car. I grab Shai's hips and pull her into my chest again, she rests her chin on my chest and looks up at me with a smile. "I'm glad you'll help us."

I kiss the tip of her nose, "it's a pleasure."

She wraps her arms around my neck and stands on her tip toes to kiss me, before it can get too deep, Shai pulls back and walks away from me. "We need to go, c'mon."

I follow her out of the front door and sit at the backseat in the car with her, Lori starts the car and drives in the opposite direction than Los Angeles.

Shai leans her head on my shoulder and closes her eyes as we drive. We woke up at five in the morning and took a run, then we shared a shower and ended up cuddling on the bed until Lori started an argument with Tanner about whether or not he had to go to school, that made us walk downstairs and help with the breakfast.

Now it's ten, and we're heading against Shai's grandma's house, we have to make it ready for Shai to move in, in a few weeks hopefully.

Shai and I has been looking for apartments in Simi Valley for me, so I can get my own place soon. We've found one that I like and has already contacted the owner, in next week we're planning to go see the house.

Ten minutes later, Lori stops the car in front of a small house, in typical Simi Valley style. It has the perfect size for one person to live in without it being too big or too small.

I stroke Shai's thigh and she lifts her head from my shoulder and look around, a small smile appears on her face as she sees the house.

Lori opens the car door and steps out, I also step out, holding the door for Shai. She takes my hand in hers as we walk towards the front door, Lori locks it open and steps inside. "Pfft," she says as she enters. "It's clear nobody has been here in weeks."

I follow Shai inside a dusty and stuffy hallway, the smell reminds me of my own grandma who died ten years ago. I still remember how her house always smelled like home and safety.

"No need to take off your shoes," Lori says as I bend down to untie my shoes. "It's so dusty anyways."

The three of us step inside a small living room, with dark furniture that looks strange to the light wooden floor and white walls. The curtains are drawn and the room is warm and smells even more stuffy than the hallway.

"Jesus," Lori says and pulls back all the curtains, and opens the door to the garden, to let in some fresh air.

Shai begins to walk in direction of a white door, and since our hands are still tangled together, I follow her.

She opens the door and we walk into the kitchen, all the kitchen counters are covered in dust. The stove, knives and different kitchen supplies that's visible, look like they have never really been used.

"The kitchen is the newly renovated," Shai tells me and opens a window. "My grandma was very careful not to ruin anything. Twice a week, she cleaned up the whole house from one end to the other. That's why it's so strange to see the house like this. It used to be as clean as a hospital, if not even more."
