Chapter 22

Theo PoV

It's sad watching Shai zipping her suitcase and check my room for any missing stuff.

I'm sitting on the edge of the bed just looking at her, she's humming as she walks around.

Once she disappears into the bathroom I sigh and get up to get dressed. I have to drive her to the airport in half an hour, I don't think I'll be able to let her go but I need to, I must constantly remind myself that it's only for a few days.

"Theoooo?" Shai's voice sounds behind me. It sounds like she's begging for something.

I turn around and notice her standing behind me with my sweatshirt in her hands. "Huh?"

"Can I borrow this?" she gives me a small smile, I take a step closer to her.

It's my favorite sweater but it's her favorite too, that makes it a little problematic when we both want to wear it.

Only because I love her, I say: "Of course"

A grin spreads on her face as she takes a step forward and presses her lips to mine, "Thanks, babe"

"No problem, sweetheart. But promise to take care of it," I wink and help her pull it over her head.

She places both her hands on my chest and stands on her tip toes to kiss me, I cup her face with a hand and deepen the kiss.

Her tongue strokes the inside of my cheek and I pull her closer, desperate for more.

After a few seconds, Shai forces herself to pull back, "I got to go. I'm sorry."

I nod and watch her take the suitcase standing in the middle of my room, I take it out of her hand, "I'll take it."

She smiles thankfully and follows me downstairs, my parents, brothers, Jessica and Elliot and Lily are all in the living room waiting for Shai to say goodbye.

My second sister, Claire, should've been here yesterday but something at her work prevented her from showing up.

Lily runs into Shai, she embraces her in a hug. "I'm going to miss you, Shay-shay" Lily mumbles into Shai's hair.

"I'm going to miss you, too, Lily" Shai says with a smile.

Elliot joins their hug as I walk to the hallway and set down the suitcase with a small sigh.

I'm sure going to miss Shai like hell, I've been with her every single day since we started filming Insurgent, which was 8 months ago.

The thought that she's spending time with Miles and Zoë while I'm stuck here with my family, is not quite helping on my mood. It's not like I don't like my family, I love them more than anything in the world, I would just rather spend time with my best friends and girlfriend.

On the other side, I don't get so much quality time with my family like I used to, I've skipped all of our monthly dinners and family trips since March, which is not very good. Now, for the next couple of days, I bet my parents will arrange several trips to spend time with their, and I'm quoting, favorite baby son. Yes, my mom still calls me her baby son, which I find slightly annoying.

Shai's hugging Ben as I walk back into the living room, Elliot and Lily are already back on the floor playing with toys.

"Goodbye, Shai," Ben says as they pull back. "I'm looking forward to see you again soon."

"You too, Ben," Shai says with a smile. "I'm sure I'll come back again soon."

I'm really happy that she likes my family, Ruth didn't like them and they didn't like Ruth, look how that turned out.

My dad stiffens a little but hugs Shai back as she wraps her arms around her.

Shai smiles at me when she turns around and walks towards me, I place my hand on her lower back and escort her out of the living room. She waves over her shoulder, "Bye, everybody."

"Bye, aunt Shai!" Elliot says, making Shai smile because he just called her aunt.

One day, I'm sure she'll be their aunt for real.

We drive to the airport talking about everything that happened the last week.

Shai tells me about how much she likes my family, and how much she wants me to meet her family.

As I park the car outside the entrance of the airport, I turn to Shai. I'm not supposed to go with her inside; society doesn't know about our relationship yet, and I'm sure we can't manage to say goodbye without a kiss.

She wraps both her arms around my neck and pulls me into a deep and passionate kiss. We kiss like it's the last time ever, luckily the windows in my dad's car are all tinted.

Panting, we pull back and lean our foreheads together.

"I already miss you," I whisper.

"I'll be fine, Theo. Don't worry about me." Shai says as silent.

I stroke her hair and look at her opening the door and sling one of her legs out, I grab her wrist and she turns her head to looks at me.

"Take care," I tell her. "I love you"

She gives me a quick peck on the lips, "I love you too. See you soon, baby"

With that, she's gone.
