Maedhros has changed your schedule around again. So this time you try a new tactic to level with him.

Anger flushed through you as you walked through the halls. Shoes tapping noisily on the marble floor, echoing around you. Your hands balling up tightly before relaxing some, jaw tense and brows furrowed wearing a scowl on your face.
Maedhros was partially the cause for your current state, as much as you loved him... Thinking about him right now only made it spike up. Usually your husband was very calm, diplomatic and very trusting of you. Even viewing you as capable and equal to him, that was until it came down to your safety.
Even if it meant not telling you why things were being barred from you. Which seemed to happen in spurts, from what you would assume, was the changing tides in the war. While you were aware of the war, of your husbands oath, of the existence of horrors in the world... Maedhros did his damnedest to shield you from it.
You sympathized wholeheartedly with his reasoning and with his lack of communication about these things. But you could only handle so many schedule changes in one month when it seemed like it was different every day. There was nothing wrong with wanting to be a bit of a creature of habit, especially when your husband allowed for such luxuries. But when he restricted these luxuries in weird patterns, it was stressful and you could only handle so much.
Quietly you tuned your ears onto his office, listening to make sure you weren't about to stumble in upon an important meeting. Fortunately for you the Lord of Himring was alone prompting you to quicken your pace to his office where you could hear the quill scratching against parchment as he wrote hastily.
When you pushed the heavy wooden door of his office open Maedhros had already set down his quill and was standing to greet you with a soft smile on his scarred face. He looked at you expectantly, no doubt feeling the flush and spikes of your tension flowing through your bond.
Maedhros held a hint of admiration in his eyes as he looked over his beautiful spouse. But if there was anything he thought cuter than the behavior unique to you... It was your anger. The way you wrinkled your nose, the gentle pink that tinted your cheeks, the seriousness that fell on your face. It was adorable.
And now he was doing everything in his power to hide his amusement of your anger. There was nothing more aggravating to you than him finding your frustration "funny" or "cute". Maedhros hid it so well you didn't even notice the smile that lingered or the look in his eyes. He only watched you come to the front of his desk, your delicate hand grabbing one of the chairs and you began to drag it over to him.
Maedhros couldn't help but tilt his head to the side some as he watched you with eager eyes. When you stopped it before your eight foot tall husband, climbing into it to stand in it, Maedhros bit the inside of his cheek hard to keep from smiling at you.
That was a new tactic and Eru was it adorable watching you seriously trying to level with him. You both stared at each other for a long moment in silence, before finally Maedhros got a hold of his emotions long enough to speak to you. Though you could feel each others emotions, your anger overpowered the humor he felt.
"Yes meleth nin?" He asked in a small voice, unable to speak up any louder without giving away the humor he found in this. You frowned at him as his pale blue eyes lit up in your presence,
"Why do you keep rearranging my schedule without telling me!?" You asked with frustration in your voice. Maedhros folded his arms over his chest trying hard to hold onto his poker face, admiring that familiar tint of pink made its way to your cheeks and ears.
"Because your safety requires it to be changed." He shrugged to you in a nonchalant manner, you only narrowed your eyes at him. He wasn't one to discuss deep details of the dangers around you. As much as ignorance was bliss, it made you feel a bit like an outsider too.
"Mae, I need more than just because my safety requires it!" You huffed out mirroring your husbands stance as a sterner look fell over you. You could've sworn his lips twitched into a smirk before going away. Which only angered you further as you tensed your jaw.
"Just trust that I am doing this with the best intentions." Maedhros said still in a cool and soft voice, continuing to bite his cheeks. While you DID trust him to keep you safe and you knew his intentions were with the best outcomes you couldn't help but groan out.
"Dammit Maitimo!" You exclaimed, moving from the chair to the desk to stand on. No longer could Maedhros hold onto his composure despite the seriousness of your voice. His cool demeanor broke into a laugh and warm smile that was only reserved for you in private. Maedhros couldn't help himself, the fact that you'd even try to level with him while he was standing was adorable! Eru how could he not smile and laugh at his point?
"Maitimo this is serious!" And he knew it was with you calling him Maitimo, you only did when you were frustrated with him.
"Mm it must be if you're standing on my desk trampling over my paperwork." He chuckled looking down at you, the two of you almost level with one another now.
"This isn't funny meleth!" You continued in exasperation, while it was nice to see more of his old self, his amusement with your anger wasn't funny. Even if his big self looked adorable was looking at you with big gleaming eyes, with a big warm smile you only saw when you were both alone.
"But you're cute when you are angry meleth nin." He reasoned with you, his voice so sweet and gentle as he spoke to you. A smile pulling at his soft lips as he looked you over with happy and admiring eyes. You couldn't help but soften some, unconcerned with how ridiculous the extent you'd gone through to level with him.
"Can you just please tell me if my schedule needs to stay or be changed?" You said feeling less overwhelmed unable to help feel the frustration melt from you. His stubbornness was unparalleled sometimes, and in this case it paid off.
"I just need more than a daily surprise on whether I can continue working or not." You explained unable to stop your own smile as he continued to smile warmly at you. Even though he refused to tell you why it was changing, he could tell you when. Maedhros brought his good hand to your cheek, thumb gently stroking it as his face relaxed to a more content look, nodding.
"Yes my darling one I understand. I shall do better to inform you when it changes." Mae explained to you, you sighed out with relief at his words. His bad wrist coming to rest on your hip as he pressed his forehead against yours sweetly, your brought your hands to his cup his face lovingly. Tracing over the silvery scars on his face, used too it would've bothered him you traced them this way. Yet he grew to love your attentive affection, even when he felt more closed off and distant from you.
"Now as much as I appreciate your leveling tactics, I do not think High King Fingolfin will appreciate the result of the letter I was writing to him if you stay up here." He chuckled softly as he closed his eyes. You began to laugh at his words knowing that poor Maedhros would receive several paragraphs worth of a scolding from his uncle over the shoe prints.
"I do believe you are right, but can I keep you company?" You snickered back to him,
"Of course my darling one..." Maedhros whispered to you, and you pretended not to notice the rush of relief that seemed to fill him at your words. Whatever it was that prompted him to make such a big change clearly had him more wound up than he wanted to admit too. With care, Maedhros put his hand on your hip and easily lifted you off the desk as he moved to sit in the chair depositing you in his lap.
He waited patiently as you adjusted yourself into your usual position; you sitting sideways in his lap. Legs draped over his, your head resting against his chest and when you settled he scooted his chair forward to begin writing. Maedhros wrapped his bad arm around your waist snugly, enjoying the warmth of you against him. And more importantly enjoying the fact that you were safe in his arm, and everything- for now- was exactly where it should all be.
