chapter 18

It was...Jaden.

Jaden- He cheated on you?

Maddy- Yeah.

Jaden- I told you to go for him. It's my fault.

Maddy- Can we talk about this when I am sober, tomorrow?

Jaden- Yeah but you are sleeping here with me in my bed.

Maddy- Why?

Jaden- Because.

Maddy- Okay?

I got in bed with him, he wrapped his arms around my waist and put his head in the crook of my neck.

Maddy- Night.

Jaden- Goodnight.

I went to sleep. The next day I woke up with a pounding headache.

Maddy- Owwww!

I said in pain.

Jaden- Yeah, hangovers are the worst.

I walked downstairs and ate some breakfast. Tomorrow is my birthday and I was happy but sad that I had to spend it in Texas.

Jaden- So when can we talk?

Maddy- Talk?

Jaden- I was trying to talk to you last night but you were drunk and said we could talk today.

Maddy- Oh yeah we can talk right now.

Jaden and I walked over to the living room, no one was over there.

Jaden- It's my fault that you got hurt.

Maddy- Jaden looked at me.

He looked up off the ground and looked me in the eyes.

Maddy- It's not I promise I liked him a lot, he didn't feel the same. I am hurt but it could be worse.

Jaden- Yeah but it could be better.

Maddy- I get it, you don't like seeing me get hurt. The best I can do is take a break from boys, and focus on me. Hey, my birthday's tomorrow. Be happy we are going to party.

I said punching him in the shoulder, he chuckled.

Maddy- Come on.

I said, grabbing his hand and taking him back to the table.

Quinton- Hey Mads you want to go swimming with me?

Maddy- Yeah!

I walked upstairs and put a swimsuit on:

I walked down and got in the pool with Quinton.

Quinton- So how's it been?

Maddy- Um I have a pretty bad hangover but my birthday is tomorrow so I'm happy.

Quinton- Speaking of that, I have a present for you.

He said getting out of the water,

Maddy- But, my birthday is tomorrow.

Quinton- I knew that you would probably be partying with your friends. I wanted to give it to you alone.

Maddy- Okay. But all my friends are in California.

Quinton- Whatever.

I said taking the box. I opened it to see the prettiest necklace in the world.
