Kirishima had slept well, but when he woke up he simply wanted to sleep for another two days. There was barely any light coming out from the window, and he opened the curtains, frowning when he saw that the sun had barely gone up.
'What time is it?' he wondered, going over to his phone, and frowning once he saw the time. 'It's almost five.' Five minutes until five in the morning comes by.
He closed his curtains, and looked around his room dumbly. He could try sleeping again, but whilst he felt like he would fall down the stairs and crash if he tried, he also feels like he would just stare at the ceiling helplessly while trying to convince sleep to take over him. After some consideration, he decided he'll risk his life by going downstairs.
He got changed into some more sporty clothes, and then put his running shoes on. He peeked outside his room, and shoved his phone in his pocket while he walked downstairs. He considered taking breakfast before going out, but then he decided against a proper one, instead just taking a protein bar that he had forced Ashido to buy the last time they went shopping.
He opened the door to outside, and spent a little while admiring the sky. He doesn't see the sunrise often, but when he does it is always as breathtaking from the last. He sees the sunset too much, and the sunrise too little. He smiled calmly, and then looked around to try and figure out a route. He would go running in the forest, but he's sure he'll get lost after just a couple minutes. He glanced at the bigger roads, and took a couple minutes to consider it. Usually, the roads are long and don't have many cars on them, especially this early in the morning. He won't get lost easily since the roads are mostly just straight, and don't have that many turning choices.
"Fuck it, I guess," he muttered, stretching, and then beginning to jog over the parking lot, and then jogging on the road. He took a left turn, and then enjoyed his run as he took in the morning breeze. 'It's a bit cold, but it will be too hot this afternoon,' he thought, smiling as he heard the birds' chirping. 'Maybe I don't need my earbuds,' he chuckled silently, listening to all the different birds singing, and also the couple wood animal noises. He didn't hear many, but he's sure he didn't only hear birds. He won't investigate, he'll leave them alone since they are leaving him alone. 'I'll run for thirty minutes, and then I'll come back to the centre. So... I'll just run for an hour in total,' he thought, jogging more slowly, but keeping a relatively fast pace. His mind blanked, only entertained by the noises of the birds and his footsteps.
He usually runs in the city when he can't sleep, listening to his favourite songs while he admired the different aura the city gives during early morning compared to the later morning, afternoon, and evening. It's empty, but it still feels so full. In the countryside, there is nothing but him and the animals. Nothing but him and the calm. Nothing that could harm him. He felt calm, yet a smile refused to wash over on his lips.
In two weeks, he'll be going back home. In exactly two weeks, he'll be riding a horse for the last time, before he finally has to go back home and face the problems he wishes to forget. He'll have to grow up, and give up on the freedom he wished that adults had when he was a child. He'll have to find a job after being fired again, and he'll need to settle, and stop moving everywhere. He can't work at McDonalds like a teenager, and he can't mow people's lawn like someone searching for extra cash. He shouldn't babysit like he did when he was fifteen, and he shouldn't become a cashier just because it is something easier than becoming an entrepreneur. He can't... he shouldn't.
He tried being a waiter, and he tried working at a library, yet neither of them worked out well. He tried working at food chains, but he quit before he could get fired. He tried bar-tending, but he couldn't handle the stress, nor the weight on his shoulders of the drunk men and women, and the people trying to flirt with him. He tried being a janitor, but he messed up and quit before he could be fired again. He tried working in retail, giving up on being a cashier, but this time trying to be someone who stocks shelves. He was a bit slow to start, and once he got it it went well, however misfortune always seems to find him. He wished he could be good at any job he gets, but he doesn't know where to search at this point. He does have a degree, and he should use it, but he doesn't feel like it is right for him. A degree in child care... it that right for him? It really doesn't.
