It's been exactly two weeks since Mr. M has decided to live with the Khannas. Since than Rakshit has been away for one business meeting after another and has only spoken to Drishti over the phone and that to was only twice in one week in the fear that's he's going to get caught. Currently he's in New York or so he said.
It was passed midnight. The moon was the brightest tonight and it's reflection could be seen in the pool of water. The night was so quite and peaceful as everyone had slept except two souls whose lives were turning out to be like a rollercoaster ride. Both were contemplating about their lives.
Rakshit was walking in the front yard by the huge water fountain thinking about his next steps. But as he walked out of his room towards the yard, Drishti saw a shadow coming out of Mr. M's room. She couldn't put her finger on it but she was sure that the shadow kind of looked liked that of Rakshit's to her and decided to follow it. She was of course a little bit skeptical about it, but still went.
On the way, she kept calling him, but he was busy in his own thoughts that he didn't notice her calls. Now Drishti was more than just perplexed because she could hear the sound of his ring tone which went something like "Ta ta ra ta ra ta ra ra ta ra, ta ra ra ta ra ta ra ta ra ra ta ra ta ta ra ta ra ta ra ra ta ra..." Finally on the third call, Rakshit saw her name on his phone. He immediately looked to his sides and when he didn't see anyone, he picked up the phone.
By than Drishti already noticed and figured out that the person was non other than Rakshit himself and decided to hide behind the water fountain. Obviously one thought after another occupied her mind as she was trying to figure out why he's here at such late hour. So she decided investigate like her favorite mystery anime character Detective Conan.
Conversation over the phone: (keep in mind that the fountain is huge and so even if Drishti spoke in normal voice, it wouldn't be easy for Rakshit to hear her)
Drishti: (sort of whispering) hello Rakshit, I have called you multiple times, is everything ok?
Rakshit: oh I am sorry, I didn't hear you calling. Everything is fine. What are you doing?
Drishti: nothing much and you? Are you that busy that you can't call me more often?
Rakshit: yeah a little. I am going over some files right now.
Drishti: are you in your office right now?
Rakshit: of course I am.
Drishti: really?
Hearing how he lied to her so easily, Drishti was enraged. She decided to confront him and so she did. She walked over and tapped slightly on his shoulder, leaving him perplexed as he turned over to face her. A moment of silence went on for more than 5 minutes. Both just looked at each other as if they haven't seen each other for ages or as if they were taking one another's permission to speak.
Rakshit finally decided to act on the wise words of author K when he remembered her wise words that "What is bound to happen will happen. You need to know to let what is bound to happen, happen. Such is called the law of life."
In the next part, Drishti will finally know the truth, but will she believe him? Stay tuned to find out - K
