"Hey Ash, can I talk to you for a moment?" I looked at Calum. "We'll be right behind you, don't worry." I turned back to Ashton as we trailed behind Calum, both of us walking out of town. After asking Michael why he and Ashton wanted us to be back so soon, I believed him every word. Now, I'm not too sure. Ashton's been a little distant from me that makes me wonder if their lying.

Yesterday from waking up from his severe injury, he didn't seem to mind I was there and was always willing to talk to me. Ever since we woke up today, clearly somethings been bothering him. Before we left the inn, he seemed distracted almost. Was it because of Michael? I only just met him so I'm not sure if it's normal for him to disappear all of a sudden. Overall, it is strange, I wouldn't be complaining if I were Ashton.

I heard Ashton sigh. "Listen, is this about yesterday? Is that what you're gonna ask me about?"

"Mostly, yes." Ashton looked away from me, trying to hide the expression on his face. I suddenly got doubts about yesterday. I woke up thinking it was a dream and it seems to be turning out to be one. "So you did intently lie to me, did you not mean what you said?" I was saddened by the thought of Ashton not meaning what he had said to me when he had gotten hurt and we were alone together for the first time in a year. A part of me was wishing he really did mean it. He seemed so sincere about it.

"Of course I meant it," He looked back at me to see my face, all sad from thinking he didn't mean it. He took in a breath and continued. "I want things to go back the way things were. When we were together." He trailed on but I stopped him and went in front of him, looking him in the eyes. "Then we can make that happen! I'd do anything for you. You know that." He pushed me back gently. "It doesn't just happen like that. Right now is complicated-"

"What's there to be complicated about? I like you and you still like me, so why? We can go back to being happy again." I grabbed at his hands and held them in mine. My eyes darted to every feature on his face as he avoided mine. What was up with him? I don't understand him.

"It's not complicated...?" He asked, slowly turning his gaze towards mine.

I shake my head, "No. It shouldn't be. I promise you, you'll never regret this." Neither of us moved or made a sound. My hands were still holding onto Ashton's. I still stood staring at him waiting for an answer, a response to mine but he only stared at me back.

"Why'd you stop walking? Is everything okay?" I heard Calum say from behind me. I sighed and removed my hands from his, turning around to see Calum. I smile and say, "Everythings fine. Ashton just had a bit of trouble with his walking." Calum nodded and waited for us to catch up with him as we started to walk towards him.

Ashton whispered to me so that Calum wouldn't hear, "We'll talk about this later."

.

"You know how I use and practice white magic?" Calum interrupted me while I read a book that was held in my hand. We were inside of his bedroom. Everything seemed so clean, nothing was littered and nothing was out of place. There were bookshelves, top to bottom; floor to ceiling in front of his bed. It was filled with thousands of books, I often wonder if he had the time to read them all. I know I wouldn't have. I'd read at least two pages and I'm done. The book I'm reading now is intriguing and It fills more empty questions into answers in my brain. What I used to know as a kid is now flowing around in the air and suddenly came to a stop when Calum spoke out to me.

I settle the book in my lap and looked up at him. I was sitting in a comfortable chair from across his bed that he was sitting on. "Yes? Why?"

"I feel something in the air changing. It's not the magic from what I've been learning. It's different, feels strong almost. It's hard to explain." Calum looked up in the air, thinking of the words that came out of his mouth.
