"This child is none other than a threat to all of Ru'uan! He should be punished for all of the damage and harm he's caused us all! Throw him in his cell. Immediately" The King shouted in seriousness from his throne as he sat there, staring at the child with disgrace and disgust.
The child only cried out for mercy and freedom and that he did nothing wrong. He was scared about what'll happen to himself. The guards were practically clawing at his shoulders as he tried to violently pull off their grip on him so he can escape and run away far away and never to be seen again.
When he knew this wasn't doing him any good. He gave up trying to escape. And he gave up his hope to ever see the sun and moon again.
It took a couple of minutes to get to his cell due to how far beneath this place was. His legs were tired and we're giving up on him but the guard forcefully kept him to keep going, with their hand on his shoulder.
When they finally got to his cell, they roughly threw him in as the child landed on his knees and his arms keeping him up. He stared at the dark grey concrete floor and only cried. From behind him, he could hear the cell door close loudly with a lock heard.
"Don't go anywhere." One of the guards said as they chuckled to themselves and walked off.
The child sat in the corner, all curled up in a ball, as they gripped their arms and had their head rest on his knees.
He was cold. He was hungry. He was scared. He has forgotten what he looked like even.
The only thing he had was voices inside his head. Rambling about terrible things that he didn't want to listen to.
This almost made him mentally insane until he remembered something. No. Someone.
He could hear their voice. It's as if they are calling out to them.
"Calum! I'll come to rescue you, don't worry."
He wanted to believe them so, so much but, he only doubted himself with despair. He said that No one will come for him. He'd rather die where no one will remember him.
Oh, wait... No one knows him. His magic will only just control him and no one can help that.
He got snapped out of his thoughts when he heard something. He unwrapped himself from his position and looked over to where the noise came from. They came into view and stared at Calum.
"You're still alive? Unbelievable. Today's your lucky day. We decided to feed you. Here. Take this piece of bread" The guard threw in the bread onto the ground.
Calum only looked at it. Surprised. "Well? Are you just going to continue looking at it to starve? Or are you going to eat it?" The guard said. Calum took a breath and crawled over to the bread. He picked it up and examined it as if he never seen it in his life before. He began to rip apart a piece as he felt the softness in his hand. He put it up to his face, close to his mouth, and again, stared at it dumbly. Finally, he shoved it into his mouth, chewed it, and swallowed.
Food. He hasn't had food in weeks. You could even tell from how his rib cage that shows out. He turned his head to look at the guard but he wasn't there anymore. So, he began eating the entire bread quickly.
But why give him food? He thought he was a threat to everyone and deserved to die, alone.
He counted the days he's been there on the cracked dirty wall with white chalk he found. It's only been 29 days. It hasn't been a year yet.
When he fell asleep, he heard that voice again. It kept calling out his name over and over.
If only he knew who's voice it was.
