"Okay, what's wrong?"
Kurt and Blaine had been sitting in the Hummel's living room on the couch. Considering the fact that they were watching Blaine's favorite guilty pleasure, Kurt was surprised he wasn't singing a single verse.
"What do you mean?" Blaine questioned.
He seemed to have snapped out of a daze just in time for the chorus of "Tomorrow."
"Blaine, it's Annie. And you aren't singing."
"Can't I keep one shred of badass?"
Kurt didn't have an answer for that, and frowned as a result. Blaine took in a few moments of silence and then sighed.
"It's nothing, Kurt. Don't worry about it."
"Why doesn't it feel like nothing? You've been quiet for the better part of the day! We even went the Lima Bean. You always say the same thing when we first walk in to get our coffee and today you didn't!"
"Well, I'm sorry I'm not as gay as you want me to be!"
Silence. Kurt stared at him with a skeptical expression while Blaine processed what he'd just said.
"Wait-"
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Kurt said, angrily.
"Nothing, I swear! I didn't mean that."
"Okay, well I'll see you when your ready to explain what's really going on."
The taller boy left the room causing Blaine to cover his hands over his face.
"Well, shit..." He whispered.
******************
A little bit later, Blaine decided the house wasn't the place he really wanted or needed to be. He knew if he tried to talk to his boyfriend, he'd be able to see through a lie. He found himself walking along the very street that Kurt had first seen Jack in.
"Come at me, bitch, I dare you." He murmured.
It wasn't long before the same face showed up.
"So you came." Jack said.
"For the record, I was literally following my feet. I had no intention of seeing your ugly ass face."
The blonde boy gave a smug smile and then took a step toward the shorter boy.
"Things would've been easier for you if you'd just stayed away."
"For the last time, I didn't know you'd be in that damned theater! How was I supposed to?"
"Regardless!"
"You know what? You're just jealous! You're jealous I finally found love without breaking someone else to do it!"
"First of all, I didn't "break" you or that other dumb fag. You guys got in the way so you got what you deserved. You didn't listen then, and you won't listen now. Where do you think that's going to get you and your little boyfriend?"
Blaine's hands balled into fists, making Jack smile again.
"You have a temper, Anderson. You might wanna watch that."
"Shut your face!"
A blow to the knees sent the gelled boy in weakened position. Jack grabbed his shirt, forcing him up onto his feet.
"Imagine if I were to hurt your fairy instead of you! I'm sure that'd be easier on you, right?"
"Don't you dare touch him!"
"Or what? Are you gonna spread pixie dust all over me?" Jack laughed.
"No, but I might punch you in the face."
Jack laughed again.
"Good luck with that, Anderson! I was so sure I'd proved I was stronger than you in 7th grade!"
Blaine looked behind him.
"Kurt!"
Jack immediately looked behind him allowing Blaine to kick his knees in. When Jack fell, Blaine was ready to do what he did to anyone who dared touch Kurt, but then something dawned on him.
He knew Kurt would be disappointed. He tried to remember that fighting wasn't the answer, but in that moment, it felt like there was no other option. Lost in thought, he didn't hear Jack's next words.
"You're gonna wish you didn't do that."
*************
"He won't pick up his phone! I must have called him like 18 times! I was +so sure that there was something wrong, and when he left I thought he was just going to calm down. What if I hurt him?"
Kurt had been pacing the floor with his phone pressed against his ear. Panicking, he told his best friend the events of the day. It had been almost an hour since Blaine had left.
"What if he hates me? Do you think he hates me?"
"KURT!" Rachel screams.
"W-what...?"
"You're overreacting. I'm sure he's fine! Just calm down. Give Blaine some time to think. Give yourself some time to think too! Maybe he left his phone at the house. Did you even check?"
"No... But wouldn't I have heard it?"
"If it was on silent, no. Just go check and call me again if-"
"O-Oh my god..."
He instantly dropped his phone, causing the call to turn to static. From his room Kurt could see Blaine walk through the front door. He was frozen, trying to comprehend the red that covered most of his body. A few steps forward, and Blaine just barely made it to the couch before collapsing.
