CHAPTER 1: THE DEVIL IS HERE
40 DAYS BEFORE JULY 13
"GIRLS JUST WANNA have fu-un!" Sabay naming kanta ni Cafe, ang best friend kong napaka-manly pero manly din ang hanap. We've been friends since freshman year, and now that we're seniors, mas lalo lang kaming naging close.
I saw Cafe reached towards the stereo of my car and increase the volume of the music. We continued singing―more like screaming―until we reached the university. I parked my car and we both got off.
He breathed out loudly. "First day of school nanaman. Nakakatamad! Buti nalang nandito ka B, sabay tayong mag susuffer."
I smirked. "Duh. Ako lang mag-susuffer kasi makikita ko nanaman yang panget mong pagmumukha buong araw." Truth be told, Cafe is a handsome guy. If only he wasn't gay, I would have liked him a long time ago. But now, things have changed. He's more of like a brother―or rather, a sister―to me.
"Bruha ka!" Sabi niya at hinampas ako ng malakas. Napangiwi naman ako.

My hand balled into fists after hearing her call me by my full name.
Gosh, what a bitch she is. Just seeing her face makes me want to smash it over and over.
I didn't want her to know she affected me so instead, I plastered a smirk on my face and shot an eyebrow up.
"At least my name's latin translation means 'light bearer' and is also the initial name for the planet Venus, also known as the 'morning star'. My name's basically a name for a beautiful planet. How about yours? Your parents didn't know what else to name you so they decided to look at a calendar and name you after a month?" I snorted. "Real effort, I tell you."
I heard Cafe stifle a laugh beside me.

"So? Demonyo naman ang pangalan mo. Pati ikaw, demonyo!" Pagsingit ng isang bitchy friend ni July na si Audrey.
"Oh honey, Lucifer was God's best friend before they broke apart. Did you forget that he was once an angel?" I retorted.
"They broke apart because Lucifer betrayed God." Sabi naman ni Mia, ang bitchy-but-not-as-bitchy-as-Audrey na kaibigan ni July.
