CHAPTER 2: THE WAY HE PROTECTS HER
33 DAYS BEFORE JULY 13
I STARED AT the girl in front of me, slightly squinting my eyes whilst pursing my lips. My arms were folded across my chest, my right foot lightly tapping against the concrete floor. We were the only two people in the hallway.
"Are you done staring at me?" I asked, a smug look on my face.
She shook her head incredulously. "Wow, you are seriously so full of yourself, you know that?"
"Of course I am. I am pretty, after all."
"Sinong nagsabi? Ikaw lang?" Panunuya niyang sinabi.
I fluttered my eyelashes. "Your boyfriend, silly."
Her face was suddenly contorted with rage, her eyes forming into slits. I knew I got into her head. I knew how much she wanted to tackle me but she was restraining herself, otherwise she'll get in trouble.
"Alam mo, hindi ko talaga alam bakit naging kaibigan ka ni July dati. Pero alam ko na ang dahilan kung bakit hindi na kayo magkaibigan ngayon." She snapped.
Oh honey, you don't know anything.
I chortled. "Aubrey dear, you're so funny," I took a step closer to her. "You actually think you know shit?" I noticed how nervousness creeped up onto her face, but she didn't speak, so I continued. "You don't know anything, so I suggest you shut up otherwise I'll make you."
I stared at her while she tried to avoid my eyes. After I was satisfied of taunting her, I took a step back and smirked, turning on my heel and returning to the cafeteria.
Since freshman year palang, ramdam ko na ang galit saakin ni Aubrey. Alam ko dahil din magkaibigan sila ni July, pero pakiramdam ko may mas malalim pang dahilan. Jealousy? I don't doubt that. Kaya wala akong babaeng mga kaibigan ay dahil either inggit sila saakin or hindi nila kaya ang ugali ko.
Nakilala ni July si Aubrey at Mila nung freshman palang kami at simula nun ay lagi na akong pinaparinggan. Nakilala ko din si Cafe nung panahon na yun at simula nun ay naging friends na kami.
It's because Cafe isn't a backstabbing bitch, unlike some people.
Nang makarating ako sa cafeteria ay agad kong hinanap kung nasaan si Cafe. Habang papalapit ako sa pwesto niya ay doon ko napansin na may iba pa pala siyang kasama sa table.
I groaned when I noticed who they were.
"Hi babe," Dash said, winking at me.
I grimaced and sat beside Cafe. He was sitting in front of Parcival, whilst Dash-the-prick sat in front of me.
Dash has been annoying me nonstop for the whole week, throwing flirty remarks every time he had the chance. I don't mind sitting with Parcival though, he was a man with few words, making him less annoying than Dash.
