I started this book with something controversial, so it only seems fair that I end with something controversial. When Arrow first came on to The CW in 2011, I didn't think much of it. I assumed Arrow was going to be a spinoff to Smallville, and when I found out that was not the case, I was disappointed. So I never bothered watching Arrow. But then Arrow got a spinoff. The Flash. I was a senior in high school when it aired, and I instantly became a fan of the show. I never wanted to miss an episode of The Flash every Tuesday night. In fact, I mostly watch Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow whenever Flash makes an appearance. That's the only reason I watch those shows. Of all The Arrowverse shows, Flash is my personal favorite. I remember The Arrow/Flash/Supergirl crossover special known as Elseworlds. And it introduced Batwoman. I remember it well. People were outraged that a gay actress was playing Kate Kane, AKA Batwoman.
Uh... You do realize in the comics, Batwoman is a lesbian, right? I may not be a big fan of the character, but even I know Batwoman is rooting for the other team. And you whiner babies are outraged over openly gay actress Ruby Rose being cast as the character? To quote my friend Claire, (AKA CharaDemonChild) trying and failing to understand the logic. If this is how people act towards a lesbian playing a gay character, I dread to think how everyone would react if I, a biracial Hispanic with Asperger's Syndrome, was cast as a white superhero. Anyway, when I first saw Ruby Rose as Batwoman on Elseworlds, she left a good first impression. She had good chemistry with Melissa Benoist, and her Batwoman costume was fucking cool. (And I would be lying if I said I didn't have a small crush on Ruby. She's cute, okay?!?!?!) Either way, Batwoman left a good first impression upon me. It was nice to see that Batwoman was going to get her own spinoff. I was glad to see the Batman mythos expanded into the Arrowverse. The trailer came on YouTube, and everyone tore the trailer a new one. It was ugly. Probably uglier than the backlash against the original Sonic design for the live action movie. Yeah, the backlash was so ugly, Ruby Rose deleted her Twitter account and limited the comments on her Instagram account. I felt bad for her.
You see, I'm an admin for a Batman group known as Fans of Batman. And a lot of members have been very cruel towards the show. They've accused the show of being political, pro-feminism, anti-masculine, pro-SJW, and blahblahblah. So yeah, a lot of people think Batwoman is trash. I should mention, these are the same clods who think Batman and Batwoman should be together, and have mixed up Batwoman and Batgirl, stupid enough to assume they're the same character. There are some morons who think that Bruce Wayne's father's named Josh. I am not making this up. This is the type of stupidity I have to deal with on a daily basis. I, on the other hand, have really liked the first season. I really like Ruby Rose's performance as Kate Kane and Batwoman. She really does a great job with the character, and I'm glad the producers chose an openly gay actress to portray Kate. And it's good to know that Ruby's a comic book fan. And Ruby has proven to be a good actress. She's one of many favorite performances from the show. Another favorite is Rachel Skarsten as Beth Kane/Alice. She has fun playing the character and it shows. Alice is a psychopath, and yet she has justified reasons for why she's so messed up after all the hell she was forced to endure as a child. So yeah, Alice is an almost sympathetic villain. And I like Camrus Johnson's portrayal as Luke Fox. He's not who I would imagine. I mean, I imagine John Boyega as Luke. And yet, Camrus Johnson makes the part his own. He makes Luke quirky and funny, he's a total genius, and yet he has his good moments. He's one of the best parts of the show. Honorable mentions go to Alfred's daughter Julia and Tommy Elliott, AKA Hush. Good performances there. Season one was pretty enjoyable for me to watch. I'm glad I remained invested. The show was enjoyable, it really delves into the mythos of Batman with Easter eggs that made me smile. I really can't wait to see what season two has to offer. I hope Oracle can make an appearance and that Renee Montoya also makes an appearance. So yeah, I'm open to see what the future holds.
But yeah, that's it. I'm finished with this book. There's a lot more I wish I could write, but I guess I should've stopped after the Stan Lee tribute. It's better I end on my own terms and focus on my fan fictions. I got this idea I want to do with MyGirl_BCanary where the both of us review Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and the reviews rely on our differing opinions. It'd be fun. But yeah, I think I'll leave with this.
Yep, that's me holding a picture of Batman autographed by Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman. Pretty cool, eh? The best part is, I get to hang it next to the Injustice poster autographed by Tara Strong. Anyway, thanks for putting up with me and my random and weird opinions. You followers are the best, thank you again, stay safe and be positive. Lots of love, TG.
