"You are now a medical doctor, Doctor Colonel", my superior announced infront of the other doctors. I flashed a smile to them. I can't put into words how I feel right now while I am holding my certificate that dictates that I am now a licensed doctor. "Can you please say a word for us?", he asked. I get my spotlight, my own spotlight.

"This feels like I am in a cloud. I can't still believe that I am now a licensed doctor. For being a pre-med, intern, resident up to a medical doctor, I finally hold my own certificate. Hardships were all worth it. I surely take good care of my future patients. I truly oath infront of you, 'Patients first and cure them rest'. I am Anasthasia Brena Colonel, MD", I oath. They gave me a big round of applause. They congratulated me and the others licensed doctor.

When the ceremony is done, I hug my parents. I clearly see through their eyes that they are happy for me. Finally, I made them proud. "Congrats anak", mama said. She is currently sobbing so hard that's why papa is tapping her back. "Proud na proud kami ng papa mo sayo", she added. Ako din 'ma, proud na proud sa sarili ko. Niyakap ko pa sila ng mahigpit.

"Mama at papa, doctor na ang anak niyo", I informed them na para bang hindi pa nila alam. They even let out a chuckle.

Being a med student wasn't easy, lahat naman ng course hindi madali, pero nung mga panahon na nagsisimula pa lang ako, dumating sa punto na iniyak ko ang lahat dahil sa dami ng practicals, paper works, and so on. Mapapagalitan ka pa ng prof mo dahil mali ang way ng compression mo, dahil nanginginig ang kamay mo para i-close ang tahi ng pinagpa-practice-an niyo. But I survived, I managed to. At ngayon, isa na akong doktor. Doktor.

"Naghanda ang mga tita't tito mo sa bahay. Tara na", mama said at sumakay na kami sa kotse na dala-dala ni papa.

"WELCOME DOKTORA!". Iyan ang nakalagay sa tarpaulin na naka-display sa harap ng bahay namin. Halos lahat ng pamilya namin ay nandito, mula lolo at lola nina mama at papa hanggang sa mga pinsan ko. Maraming handa dahil sinagot lahat ng chef kong tita ang mga pagkain, doktora na daw kasi ako kaya 'yun ang munting regalo niya.

"Ate, I mean, Doktora, congrats po", Mylene said. Hindi ko siya masyadong close tulad nina Dannex kaya nginitian ko na lang siya. Maya-maya lang ay naglaro pa kami na para bang mga bata.

Naging masaya ang party, mayroong afterparty pero hindi na ako sumama dahil na rin sa pagod. Nag-aral na lang ako sa kwarto bago makapagpahinga. May kumatok sa kwarto ko at nakita ko si lola, mama ni mama.
