Shoya POV

It was Shouko's birthday today. Finally.

I know, I was a total jerk to her when we were younger, but I was naive. And finally I'll be able to repay her.

I was currently at my room, preparing the gift that I was going to give her. It was a charmed bracelet. It had hearts, little butterflies and our initials.

Yeah, I will admit it. I'm in love with her. I realized it a few months ago when I saw her on the street. She didn't see me but I saw her. She was wearing a light pink shirt and a light blue t-shirt. Her hair was in a ponytail and she was smiling.

That smile.

I would do anything to protect her and keep that smile on her face forever. I was so clueless. So...naive. Of course she would be smiling. She didn't have a jerk like me bully her. My chances with her, are probably zero, but I will give it a try.

After I carefully put the bracelet in the box, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote her an apology letter.

'Dear Nishimiya, you probably remember me. I mean, who would forget the person that bullied them all those years? Um, I wanted to apologize for my behavior in the past. I acknowledge the fact that I was a total jerk to you and i wanted to apologize for it. I was hoping that you'd forgive me, although I'm not getting my hopes up. I mean, why would you forgive me? I made your life a living hell. So yeah, I hope you can forgive me and maybe we can become friends. If you do agree to be my friend, I promise that I will do everything in my power to make up for all those years of bullying. If, again, you decide against it, I will totally understand. I don't expect you to actually agree to me being your friend anyways. So, I'm sorry. I hope you can forgive me and we can be friends. If you do decide that you want to be friends come meet me at the bridge over the river at 9 pm. Happy birthday, Nishimiya.

I went over the letter and after I was satisfied, I put it on top of the box and tied the ribbon neatly and tightly so the letter will stay in place then looked at the clock.

7:06 pm.

Okay I have time. I got up and looked through my closet for something a little nicer to wear. If I'm going to apologize, I might as well do it right.

I decided on some dark pants and a light blue shirt. I smiled then went and got ready.

I was walking on the side of the road to Nishimiya's house. I was basically a nervous wreck by now, my hands were sweaty and I was breathing heavily.

Before I even realized it, I was standing in front of her house. I gulped and placed the gift on the ground making sure that you could see it. I gulped once more and rang the bell and took of running towards where we were supposed to meet.

It was finally time to meet her. The time was 8:55. I was pacing anxiously back and forth.

Okay, you've gone through this in your head Ishida you know what to do.

But if she doesn't accept my apology? Or if she doesn't want to be friends at all and she never comes here?

The sound of footsteps took me out of my thoughts. I turned around and saw her standing a few feet away. She wore a white skirt and a purple t-shirt. She was beautiful.
I cleared my throat.

"Um, hi, Nishimiya" I waved at her and she waved back a little.
"Okay, so, um, I'll go straight to the topic. I know that I apologized at the letter that I wrote to you, but I want to also apologize in person. I'm sorry, Nishimiya. I made your life a living hell and I know that you probably hate me. I mean, come on, I hate myself too for acting like this towards you. But, if I didn't apologize face to face, guilt would just kill me and I wouldn't stand it. So yeah, whether you forgive me or not I'll respect your decision." I looked at her and she had tears streaming down her eyes.

My eyes bulged and I immediately tried to apologize, thinking that I had said something wrong, when she tackled me into a hug and sent us both on the ground. She was hugging me tight and crying on my chest. I hugged her back and caressed her hair.

After she stopped crying she sat up and looked down at me. She smiled and signed 'I'll be your friend. You don't have to apologize anymore'.

I smiled and thanked her. And then I saw how we were. Me laying down and her sitting on my waist. I blushed but nevertheless sat up. Now were basically hugging with her sitting on my lap.

I gulped and looked at her eyes then her lips and her eyes again. She must have understood what I wanted to do because she looked down blushing and just nodded a little.

I smiled a little and lifted her head with my fingers and leaned in. She closed her eyes and I did too before kissing her.

Her lips were soft and she tasted sweet. I didn't do anything more in case she got scared and pulled away. I just stayed there kissing her with my arms around her waist.

I pulled away after a little and looked at her. She was blushing and smiling.

"I-I l-l-like-d i-it" she said in a croaked voice.
"I did too" I said smiling. She smiled and hid her face on my neck as she hugged me once again. I smiled then picked her up bridal style.

"Come on, let's get you home" I said and it was just then that I noticed the bracelet that I gave her. She was wearing it on her left wrist. I smiled and took her home.

Heyyyyyyy guyyyyyyyyys! Yeah I'm stupid don't comment on that one.

So I felt nostalgic and decided to write this one.

Koe no katachi is probably the only movie that made me bawl my eyes out. Like come on it's so emotional!

If you haven't watched it I'd highly recommend it to you!

Although you should probably have a box of tissues nearby.

And just because some of you go like "Come on, how sad can it be?" well, I didn't cry in "your name" but I cried with this one. So yeah, you guys can figure it out.
