Harry and I arrived on Wednesday to London in very early hours of the morning. We spent the whole day sleeping trying to rest from the long flight. My birthday was tomorrow and I told Harry I really didn't want anything crazy, a dinner would be nice but that's it. Which is where we found ourselves right now. Gemma joined us at Nando's for dinner and a little too much wine when we went back to Harry's.

"Cash, you've got to visit the UK more, you know Anne misses you. Probably more than Harry," Gemma mused making me laugh.

"Heyyyy," Harry sang pretending to be hurt by his sisters words.

"Oh, Harry, you know everyone loves me," I said patting his cheek softly.

"Yes they do," he mumbled before Gemma spoke up again.

"Cash, I'm coming to Harry's show for the opening night with my mum and I want to get her mind off of things, so I figured we could have a day with us three girls. Y'know doing whatever we want," she shrugged with a smile.

"Yeah, I'll plan something! I'll make it special for her. She needs a break," I said with a small sad smile.

"I know she appreciates you, she doesn't have to worry about Haz going crazy when you're around. You keep him grounded," Gemma teased.

"Someone has to keep him in check."

"You two are no fun drunk, just taking the mick out of me," he pouted. Gemma and I laughed before politely asking Harry to refill our wine glasses.

Gemma called a cab around midnight and left leaving me with a new necklace. Harry and I continued to drink. We hadn't done this in a while, get wine drunk together. These were my favorite nights, Harry was always sweet but seeing him drunk was sure to leave you in a fit of giggles. I knew neither of us would remember anything in the morning.

"Your album comes out in a month," I said slurring slightly. "Are you excited?"

"Yes," he laughed, "I can't wait to be able to perform these songs on stage, especially Golden."

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"I wrote it for someone special," he smiled.

"Tell me! Do I know her?" I asked shuffling closer to Harry who was sat beside me.

Harry

I knew Cash would remember none of this in the morning, which is probably why I was so bold... that and all the wine in my blood.

"It's you," I said softly staring into her eyes.

"Really?" She asked giddily. "Sing it to me."

I slowly got up before grabbing her hand and having her follow me to the piano that was in my room. We sat on the bench and I began to play her the song that was for her. My eyes focused on the keys in front me. I had never played this song so stripped back before, just me and the piano. My eyes drifted to Cash who stared at me with part of her bottom lip in between her teeth as she smiled and blushed. I couldn't tell if the blush was about the song or the wine in her system.

"I can feel you take control
Of who I am and all I've ever known
Loving you's the antidote
Golden
You're so golden
I don't wanna be alone
You're so golden
You're so golden
I'm out of my head
And I know that you're scared
Because hearts get brokenI know that you're scared
Because I'm so open,"

I sang looking directly in her eyes. The moon lit her face perfectly and I could see her eyes holding so much emotion. I had been in love with this girl for so long now and never gotten the courage to tell her until now, when I knew she wouldn't remember it in the morning. It started when we were working on the first album, we worked on it for 3 months and then I had to film Dunkirk. We were already best friends by then and I didn't realize my feelings were turning into something more until I came home and we began working on the album again.

I was meeting Cash in the studio to record my vocals for Sweet Creature. It was a song I had written in Jamaica and at the time I didn't know who it was for. It was about no one in particular, if I'm being honest I got the idea partially from the Notebook when Ally and Noah are being so stubborn and not talking but they find each other eventually.

But as I stood behind the microphone with Cash standing and staring at me as I sang I knew it was for her. Her hair was falling in loose waves and she stood there with a proud smile on her face. I remember everything about that moment, her nails were painted black, she was wearing cut-off denim shorts and an old Fleetwood Mac shirt that was mine but I wasn't complaining.

I think that's when I started to realize I was falling in love with my best friend and I was scared. Our friendship was perfect, I mean yes we did bicker about things. But, overall I had never known myself to be so completely okay with who I am, being open and vulnerable, as I was with her. But, it wasn't a good time to pursue my feelings. Cash was on a journey of loving herself and feeling comfortable for herself, she didn't need me to stop that then.  Once she was at a place where she was confident and comfortable she met someone. Jason, at a movie premiere she was invited to. Then they began to date and I saw that she was happy, I wasn't selfish enough to ruin that for her. Something always's came up.

I looked in Cash's eyes and felt thick tension surround us as she lightly moved her hand to push some of my curls behind my ear before delicately grasping the pearl necklace that she had given me, around my neck and pull me into her. She looked hesitantly into my eyes as if questioning if she was going to kiss me, even I was questioning it. She breathed in deeply before resting her forehead against mine. Her hand moved from my necklace to my cheek. Her bent hand lightly moved up and down feeling the stubble that had grown. Her actions were so delicate as if telling me with her touch she wad been waiting for this and wanted to take her time.

I moved my hands from the piano and placed one in a mimicking fashion against her cheek and the other around her waist pulling her body closer. Her other hand found my thigh, and rested on the jeans I was wearing. She moved her nose lightly against mine with her lips lightly grazing mine. She had darted out her tongue to wet her own lips but obviously touched mine as well, I could tell she didn't know what to think of her actions so I lightly squeezed her waist moving my hand to intertwine our fingers and squeezed her hand.

I could tell she was having a war in her mind but I also knew she wouldn't remember this in the morning. If this was the last time I'd get to be that close to her then I wouldn't waist it. I softly but fully pressed my lips to hers feeling her melt into me. Her hand on my cheek went behind my neck and she laced her fingers in my hair. Our lips moved in a slow rhythm together, there was no urgency, no lust, there was just all the words I wanted to tell her for the past four years.

There never seemed to be a good time to pursue my feelings for her. She had just broken up with fucking Jason just over 3 weeks ago. While I knew she wasn't pining over him she did genuinely love him and I knew her feelings were still there. She would forget about this in this morning and we'd go back to being Harry and Cash, best friends. There was one thing I was certain of, her lips were addicting and I wanted to do this again.
