Fae POV
We stood on top of the tallest cake on the island and in front of us was a large door that had a face. “Welcome back Katakuri-sama, Perospero-sama, and Cracker-sama.” The door said politely. I felt my mouth open a little in shock. “You can talk! That’s amazing!” I beamed up at the door with stars in my eyes.
“Katakuri, the door is talking how is that possible?!”
“Big Mama is the queen of Whole Cake Island and she ate a devil fruit called the Soul-Soul Fruit. It can give her the ability to infuses objects and animals by putting soul fragments in them.” Katakuri explained to me.
Soul fragments? Souls. To make objects come alive you need souls?
“Where does she get the souls.” I asked seriously but I was nervous to hear the answer. “From the people on the island. In exchange for protection they donate a small portion of their life span.” Katakuri said almost as if it wasn’t a big deal.
Taking people’s. . life span. . for protection. . Is the world that dangerous? Was Leon right this whole time?
I peered up at Katakuri who was looking back down at me holding my hand tight. I trust him to protect me and he was honest with me about Leon. It wasn’t a lot of information but it was enough to not allow my trust to waver again. I gave him a real smile, a smile that comes deep from my heart. His eyes soften for the first time since we set foot on the island but it didn’t last long. He put his mask back on the moment he noticed Perospero and Cracker watching us both with intensity.
The talking door had a big smile on her face as she opened the door for us. “Thank you.” I bowed to the door politely. “Your welcome, my dear.” And we walked into a large room with a very large round woman sitting in a large throne chair. Her hair was pink and she wore bright red lip stick that was in the shape of a heart. She had on a light pink dress with dark pink polka dots and she was surrounded by a bunch of young women and men and all their eyes focused on me.
This must be all of Katakuri’s siblings and the big tall woman must be Katakuri’s mom. Their eyes followed me and I could feel the atmosphere getting thicker and thicker the further I walked in. Their was so many powerful people in this room that the tension literally bounced off the walls.
I am happy that I am meeting Katakuri’s family but I wanted to turn around and have a redo to mentally prepare myself better. These were the people that are very important to Katakuri and their all standing in this room. We continued to walk in hand in hand and I noticed all of them staring at our hands locked together.
“Well, your quite the beauty. My son wasn't exaggerating at all.” The woman said with a very large smile on her face. I could feel my face flush, “O-oh, thank you.” I bowed, trying to calm my beating heart. “Not only beautiful but respectful as well. Good. Good.” She beamed down at me as if she was really happy to see me.
“Did your journey go with my son? He has told me you two have grown quite close in the past few weeks.”
“Yes ma’am. We have grown close and he was the perfect gentleman, very sweet and kind.” I said honestly squeezing his hand smiling up at him.
“Please, call me Big Mama and I glad you have taken a liking to my son. He has told me you two are in a physical relationship now. Is that true?” She asked me boldly in front of everyone.
I felt my cheeks burning and I looked up to Katakuri who was just as red as I was. “Y-yes, but w-we are taking things real slow. W-we just started dating this morning, and we are still learning about one another.” I said chuckling awkwardly, feeling embarrassed for being put on the spot.
