Chapter 5; Everything changes

Author note: by now you've met all the gems and are more or less kind of friends with them, out of all the gems your closest to Garnet, after that day Steven and her tried to follow you to find out who was hurting you but failed, she takes at least half an hour every 2 hours you're over at their house everytime you go over, which is quite often because you try to escape your own house, to talk to you and get to know you

<~~A Few Days Later~~>

Steven's P.O.V
It's just another morning in the temple, i wake up and get ready for the day, i then go to the kitchen and prepared breakfast.
After breakfast i go to my room and play some video games, after a while i hear pounding at the door
'I wonder who that could be, could it be Connie? I didn't know she was coming over today'
I look over at the clock, it reads 12:36pm Tuesday
'It can't be Connie, she should be at school for at least a couple of hours still'
The pounding on the door happens again
"S-Steven! Please be home, oh god, please be home Steven!" (y/n) yells, she sounds really upset and desperate
'(y/n)!? Oh no, what's happened!?' I think to myself, rushing to the door to open it. As soon as it's open (y/n) jumps into my arms and hugs me tightly, crying and breathing heavily, i hug her back tightly, trying to make her feel a bit better
"What happened (y/n)? Are you ok?" I ask, concerned. She lets go of me and steps back so i could see her, there's a red mark on her left cheek, the right side of her forehead is red and a bit swollen, tears running down her face, and her bandages are half unwrapped, and messy. You notice she's still wearing her PJ's with a jumper over her PJ shirt and for the first time you can actually see her blue hair, you make a mental note to bring up her hair another time because this obviously isn't the right time to ask. Before you can say anything (y/n) asked shakily
"S-Steven, c-can i stay at yours for a while? L-like overnight, f-f-for a couple days, p-ple-please" she begs, very distraught and struggling to stay standing upright let alone speak a sentence, her whole body is shaking vigorously
"O-of course (y/n), you can stay as long as you like, ok here, take this towel and some of my clothes, go take a hot shower, be in there as long as you'd like" i say going into the closet and getting out a towel and some of my clothes and handing them to her
"Th-thank you S-Steven" she replies trying to smile, she begins to wobble her way to the bathroom and nearly falls, i catch her and guide her to the bathroom, holding her up so she doesn't fall the whole way.
While (y/n) is having a shower you gather the gems and tell them whats going on
"She showed up at the door, shaking heaps and crying, her bandages were ruined and she has a few more bruises, she's staying here with us for a while" i explain to the gems
"Well what happened? Who did this to her? Do we even know she's actually being physically injured by someone, maybe she is just accident prone like she said?" Pearl says, suspicious of what's going on with (y/n)
"Pearl! The girl was shaking! She's terrified! How could you even say that!? Someone is obviously hurting her and its our jobs as the Crystal Gems to protect her, she is a human and our job is to protect humans and the Earth!!" Garnet yells at pearl

Your P.O.V
I finished my shower and change into the clothes Steven gave me. The shirt turns into a kind of crop top so i put on my jumper on that i always take with me, and half zip it up and still see the shirt i was wearing, so i could hide my gem and the end of the pants reached just below my knees. I hear talking in the living room outside and put your ear against the door to hear them
"-actually being physically ignored by someone, maybe she is just accident prone like she said?" I hear Pearl say
"Pearl! The girl was shaking! She's terrified! How could you even say that!? Someone is obviously hurting her and its our jobs as the Crystal Gems to protect her, she is a human and our job is to protect humans and the Earth!!" I hear Garnet say angrily
That's when i walk out of the bathroom, they all turn to me, the skinny pale one blushes a blue colour out of embarrassment of what she had said, she assumed you heard everything, Steven walks up to you and put his hand on 1 of your shoulders
"I'm so sorry you have to hear that (y/n), it wasn't right for us to talk about you behind your back" Steven says trying to apologise
"No, its ok Steven, she has a right to be suspicious, there's no proof of anything and its not like I've told you what's happened, i just stormed into your house begging to stay...." i say, being as emotionless as possible
"And you don't have to explain everything, we don't have to know" Steven says trying to comfort you
"No, it's about time you knew....." you respond.
You go and sit down on the couch, Steven and the 3 woman follow and sit down as well
"Ok.... so um, my father is an alcoholic, everytime i see him he is either drunk, or asleep, he has a temper when he's drunk as well and sometimes when i make him too angry, he hits me, all these bruises, are from when he hits me, and the cuts.... well, if i anger him too much he throws beer bottles in my direction, and when he threw one in my direction 1 shard of the bottle flew at my arm and cut it..." i explain "and this morning, i asked him... a question i wasn't supposed to, and he ripped at my bandages and slapped my cheek in anger" i say bringing my hand to the red mark on my left cheek "and when he went and turned around to walk away the beer bottle in his hand hit my forehead, which explains this" i continue, pointing at the redness on my forehead.
The gems stare at you in shook at what horrible things you experience at home, Garnet grows furious after hearing the horrible things my own father does to me, she stands up angrily
"How could he do that to his own daughter!? What is wrong with him!? I swear I'm gonna rip him to pieces!" Garnet yells angrily heading for the door and walking out, Steven, Amethyst and Pearl all realise what Garnet is going to do and rush to stop her, you soon realise she's going after your dad and soon run out the door and get to Garnet. You see Steven trying to talk Garnet out of it while Pearl and Amethyst handing onto her arm and leg, trying to hold her back to slow her down, using all their might, she isn't stopping nor slowing down
So i do the only thing you can think of, tell her to stop
"Garnet, stop, don't do this please Garnet" i say trying to keep up with her, she looks down at you and goes "he deserve this! He hurt you!!" And keeps walking, Pearl and Amethyst still hanging onto her trying their best to make her stop and Steven still trying to stop her, he's now pushing against her with all his strength. Garnet passes me and i don't know what to do, i could lose the only family i have, he may be an alcoholic and abuse me but he's all I've got.
You stand there, getting upset, then suddenly "Garnet stop!!" I cry, tears about to fall down my cheeks, and they can hear how upset I'm getting in my voice. And it works, Garnet stops, she turns to me, looking at the tears that threaten to stain my cheeks.
"Garnet, he may be horrible, abusive, and an alcoholic..... but he's the only family i got! If he's gone then i have no one! Please Garnet, don't do it" you plead to her, your voice shaking
She walks up to you, the gems, amazed by how she easily stopped for me, let her go.
She bends down, putting her hands above her knees to support herself, her face close to mine, she takes one hand off her knee and uses it to wipe my tears
"Well, i wouldn't want to do anything to upset you, but if I'm not going to tear him to pieces, i have to report him to the police, i don't want you getting hurt anymore, he'll go to jail for a while and go through an anger issue program, as well as rehab for his alcohol problems, ok?" Garnet says, i sniffle and smile a little "r-really? You're not gonna kill him?" You say still sniffling "not if it put a frown on your face and tears in your (e/c) (eye colour) eyes" Garnet says happily, wiping another tear from your eyes
"Thank you Garnet....." you say smiling at her
<~~Time Skip~~>
Garnet did as she said and called the police and reported my dad for child abuse.
I decide to go home to watch him get arrested and say goodbye.
The gems had invited me to live with them while my dad is in jail, so i collect your clothes and anything else I'll need, toothbrush, hairbrush, my teddy and favourite pillow, that kinda stuff and head back over to the Temple.
I walk up the stairs. I stop at the door, close my eyes, sigh, open the door and walk in.
Today is day 1 of living with the gems
