Chapter 8; Broken

Garnet's P.O.V
It's been a few hours since (y/n) and Steven went to sleep. So far everything is ok, (y/n) and Steven are both peacefully sleeping and I'm starting to get a bit bored.
(y/n) begins to struggling in her sleep, tossing and turning around, mumbling something i can't understand. She almost falls off from squirming around so much, luckily i stop her from falling.
As she tosses and turns, i see her gem begins glowing brightly, almost like activated or trying to form, and suddenly all the faucets in the kitchen and bathroom, including the bath/shower faucet, bursts and all the water rushes to (y/n) and surrounds her protectively, circling her like Steven's bubble but a lot bigger, its almost like she's protecting herself while she's asleep, but what could she possibly be dreaming around that's making her do this in her sleep?
'Why is she so scared? What is she dreaming about? Why is she protecting herself like this? I need to help her, i need to wake her up' i think to myself
I try to rush to wake her up but i can't get past the water bubble
"I have to wake (y/n) before she damages or even floods the house, Pearl! Amethyst! I need some backup here!" I call
No one comes
'They can't here me from inside the Temple..... Steven! He can help me using his shield or something!' I think to myself, rushing up the stairs to Steven
"Steven wake up! (y/n)'s having a nightmare! She's going to flood the house if we don't wake her up!" I yell, shaking Steven, not that much, trying to wake him up
"H-huh? W-What's ha- ahhhhh" Steven starts to say still sleepy, but wakes up properly when he sees the water surrounding (y/n)
"You have to help me get to her, i can't get through that water bubble she's got around her and she'll start damaging the house if she keeps dreaming that nightmare" i explain to Steven
He pulls out his shield
"Ok, let's wake her up" he says
We rush down the stairs and face (y/n)
"Steven, if you use your shields and make a gap in the water i can reach through and wake her up" i say
Steven pulls out a second shield and starts prying the bubble, making a gap in the water bubble and i waste no time and jump through the gap Steven made
"(y/n) wake up! It's only a nightmare wake up! It's not real, it's ok, we're here for you and it's just a dream!" I beg (y/n), trying my best to wake her up. I take her hand in mine
"We're here, we won't let anything hurt you" i say softly, i look back at Steven who's now pressing his hand again the water, he smiles gently
"All of us...." i say
Suddenly the water falls to the ground and soaks the floor and everything touching it, the water that was above (y/n) and i falls onto us with a splash and we get soaked, (y/n) had woken up, she has tears in her eyes and she was shaky, Steven runs to us after the water falls
"Are you ok (y/n)? What were you dreaming about?" Steven asks
"I-I'm fine, wait, why am i wet? Why is Garnet wet? W-why is the floor wet? What happened in here?" (y/n) asks us
"(y/n), a Lapis Lazuli is a very special gem, Lapides (did you know that is the plural of Lapis, Lapides, strange huh?) have an elemental power that makes that very precious, they can control liquids, specifically water. On Homeworld they're used for terraforming, that means they use their water powers to turn planets into perfect environments for growing gems and colonising planets. When you were having your nightmare, your instincts had kicked in and your body had acted as if you were in literal danger, so your body had used your powers to protect you from that 'danger' and created a water bubble, like one of Steven's, if we hadn't woken you up it's likely you would've flooded and destroyed the house" i explain to (y/n)
Steven hugs her tightly as she realises what she had done
"I-I'm so sorry, i d-didn't mean to..... i-I'm dangerous...... i could've killed you guys, i could've drowned Steven, or cracked or even shattered your gems...... i wouldn't be able to forgive myself if i did something to hurt you, any of you, i should leave before i hurt you anymore..." she says and begins to get up
"No!" Steven and i say in unison, (y/n) stops and turns around, tears streaming down her face
"(y/n) i..... we, don't want you to go, we just have to find a way to control your powers, please just stay" i plead
"B-but I'm dangerous, i have this power that i don't have control over and there's so much water around here, so much could go wrong, what if i hurt you? What if next time i don't wake up soon enough? What if next time i do flood the house? Or drown Steven? Or damage one of your gems? Or Amethyst's gem? Or Pearl's gem? Then what? How long will it take before someone i love gets hurt? I can't stand to lose you, any of you!" (y/n) screams, crying heavily. She's terrified of hurting someone, i think there's a part of her that thinks she is or will turn into her dad, hurting someone she loves, with no real control over it.
"No, i don't think you'd ever be able to truely hurt us, i believe you'd stop yourself, you're not like your dad, you don't hurt people, and if things do get out of control and you can't stop yourself, I'll stop you for you" I tell (y/n) confidentially
"How is it you can have so much hope for me? And so much hope that I'm a good person...?" She asks
I stare at Steven and he stares at me, at that moment Steven and i both realise, she doesn't think she's a good person, she has no hope for herself, her dad had not only beaten her body but her spirit as well, he had beaten any hope she ever had out of her and now, she's got nothing
"(y/n), we don't hope that you are a good person, we know you are, the fact that you're willing to give us up, walk away, and never see us again, as much as it would break you, you are willing to give us up completely, to keep us safe, it shows that you are a good person (y/n), i just wished you knew it too" Steven says
(y/n) begins hyperventilate crying (that is forceful crying causing heavy breathing, resulting in an inability to speak or produce sounds even resembling words), she dives into Steven and I, clutching onto us tightly
"I don't want to h-hurt you.... i don't want to be a bad person.... i w-want to be better.... p-please help me be better" she says, finally being able to speak
"Always" i say
