The next day consisted of preparations for a hurricane that Luna had no idea about. Apparently it had been coming for a while now but she certainly hadn't heard of it. She had slept well that night, no strange dreams or panicked wakings. It had been nice. Sarah had suggested Luna went for a sleepover at her house but she felt it could be slightly rude considering she'd only just arrived at her own family's home. Another night was the promise given.

"Wow look at you dear, already seem to be fitting in around here- got a good tan already." Cynthia, Topper's mum, spoke. Luna smiled and thanked her aunt as she danced into the kitchen to grab some lunch. Topper himself wasn't there- he'd left her a text saying he was going to hang out with Sarah, though Luna knew it was partially because he didn't want his mom shouting at him all day. The woman had always been nicer to her niece, and whilst Luna knew that wasn't her fault she still always felt a little bad about it. Maybe it was because she reminded the woman of her own twin sister. "If you don't mind, would you run to the shop and grab us some milk and bread because we've ran out and the food delivery doesn't come for another three days."

"Yeah of course, though i'm not entirely sure where it is."

"I'll set it up on google maps for you here."

And so Luna found herself skating out of the Thornton property, headphones in and smile on. The music playing came from one of her many playlists on Spotify that she had thankfully downloaded when she still had wifi- turns out the storm was likely to cut out the power for a while and the brunette knew she couldn't cope without music.

Considering the island was on the verge of a hurricane it was surprisingly sunny. Then again she didn't know much about hurricanes or storms or anything really about the weather so this could be normal. It was a sort of exciting experience, probably just because Luna had never really been a part of something like this, or at least if she had she couldn't remember. She had a love of adventure that didn't get to shine too often because of the dullness of her home town.

Her skateboard continued to rattle along the smooth road, which was slowly leading out closer to the coast. Occasionally the maps lady would squawk some demand in her ear and she'd have to take some turn or bend but for the most part she was following the instructions easily. Luna definitely hadn't been to this part of the island yet, but like the rest of the outer banks the scenery around her was stunning. She wanted to just close her eyes and absorb it all in, so for a split second she did. It felt like she was flying.

Until suddenly she was flying, just in a downward direction.

"Shit." Luna hit the ground quickly and roughly, her earphones being pulled out of her ears and her skateboard doing its own sort of flip before rolling away by itself. There was a moment of disorientation as she tried to sit up, only to groan loudly when she did. She'd cut both knees and her hands were super grazed. Perhaps a little bit too much blood for her liking. "Shit."

"You okay?" The girl heard a voice behind her. She assumed it was aimed at her because there weren't too many other people on the street.

"Yeah I just- ouch." Luna had tried to get up but when she put the weight on her leg it hurt like shit. The girl let herself sit down and sighed. "Yeah I'm good...just hurt my leg I think."

"You don't seem good." The voice got closer, and Luna heard her skateboard come to a stop behind her. She wiped her bloody knee with her hand and it did nothing but spread it around and make it sting even more. She swiveled around on her bum to face the person speaking and was pleasantly surprised.

In front of the girl stood a tall boy with shaggy, blonde hair and piercing, blue eyes. Luna felt almost stupid for being so surprised at the good looks of this boy considering everyone here seemed to be drinking beauty juice, but she had half been expecting some pervy old man.
