It was JJ who caught Luna as she tumbled out the hole in the wall. It was a lot harder for her to get out than it had been to get in, but she was able to push herself up and through. Unfortunately this sudden acceleration had meant falling headfirst out the other side, right into the arms of one blonde, ocean-eyed boy. None of the others saw the interaction, too busy looking at the envelope she'd passed through, but it happened.
"Hey, woah, I got you." His voice had been calm and gentle as he steadied the girl, holding her until she was firmly stood on her feet again. When she finally got her breath back she looked up at him, catching him watching her intently. However, as quick as it came, the caring side left and he let go harshly and scowled. Luna watched him walk quickly away from her and the grave and light a blunt as he distanced himself from the group.
She really didn't want him to hate her. She wanted him to laugh and joke and mess around like he obviously did with the others, but if it was going to take time for him to warm up to her then she would happily wait.
"Code red. Code red. Square groupers! Square groupers! Go, go, go." His suddenly alert voice rang out in the quiet cemetery causing all heads to turn to face the situation. Luna couldn't fully see, whoever it was had such bright lights it was hard to see the faces, but she didn't really fancy being arrested so started moving quickly backwards. "It's the guys who robbed your house."
"Wait what?" She questioned, though it wasn't answered and she was pulled by Kiara behind the memorial monument.
"Turn off your light." Kie urged, switching off her own flashlight. They watched JJ fumble with his lit blunt until Pope grabbed his head torch muttering a quick 'idiot' under his breath. "Do you think it's them?"
"Can someone tell me who 'them' is?! I feel like this is important information right now." The brunette girl whispered, again gaining no reply.
"Homie's got a gun."
"A what?!" She knew they were technically trespassing at night, but a gun? She did not want to be shot at. The adrenaline beginning to build up was shouting at the girl to just run. So she did. "Screw this."
And with that Luna lept up and ran to the gate. She could hear footsteps behind her and just hoped it was the others rather than any dangerous, robbing, gun wielding groupers. The gate was tall and wide, but surprisingly easy to climb and the girl was able to climb right over. Her heart was beating so fast and her mind was racing, but it was the good sort of rush that made her feel ecstatic.
Finally once she was over she looked back, and was met with the smiling faces of four other teens. The van was only meters away so she knew they'd be able to make it out in time. "Come on!"
"Uh guys!" Luna looked up to where Pope was clambering. "Guys, I'm stuck!"
"I got you." John B and Kiara ran up to him and pulled him back harshly. In the chaos and mild amusement of it all, Luna almost missed JJ pulling out a gun.
"Pope, don't move okay?" The others didn't seem to hear but she definitely did, and she slapped it down without even registering what she was doing.
"Jesus JJ why do you have that? He's stuck not being tortured."
"Protection." He shrugged kind of stiffly and replied. Though when he saw Pope be ripped out his position, his face broke out into a wide smile. "Nice! Come on, dude."
Luna liked his smile. She liked it a lot. She liked the way his cheeks curved into dimples. and the way it lit up his face. She liked the way his eyes shined, and the way it made him look so alive in that moment.
