"Where have you two been?!"Clearly Kiara was a little more worked up about their nighttime disappearance than they thought she'd be. Her face was red and her eyes full of frustration, fingers clenched tightly.
Luna had made sure to unwrap her hand from JJ's before they entered the Wreck at eight in the morning. It wasn't that she didn't want Kie to know about her new relationship, but thought with the way she'd reacted to Sarah and John B, now maybe wasn't the right time. Their friend was hiding from perhaps the most powerful man on the island, it wasn't the moment for it; both teens agreed.
"Out." JJ retorted, not giving in against their friend's narrowed eyes.
"Out, where?" Her stern expression made the brunette look down at her chewed fingernails. It was a habit she had managed to break out of for the most part, however recently she found it creeping back into her routines. Not on purpose, of course, but it seemed treasure hunts and fights with guns were actually rather stressful.
"The beach." Again, the boy just deadpanned his friend, who was growing redder and redder with each awkward silence between them.
"Why-"
Luna decided it was best to intervene, anything would be better than what her boyfriend was letting on . Boyfriend. It was quite an odd thing to say in her head, and yet the smile that jumped to her lips when she did, informed her she quite liked it. Her last boyfriend had been an absolute ass hat, and part of her liked to think it never even happened (but unfortunately it did and there was no hiding from it). So, she grinned sheepishly, and spoke. "I got too hot, couldn't sleep."
"Oh." Kiara nodded, then trailed her eyes to JJ inquisitively. Luna knew what she was thinking.
"JJ showed me the way to the beach. He couldn't sleep either."
"What she said." The blonde boy smirked and jabbed a finger at the girl by his side. He still wasn't all too happy with Kie, not sure how to react to the argument that went down the night before, but it was hard to hold a frown for too long when in the presence of his friends. His family. "Plus it's not exactly safe round here at night. For just one person I mean."
Kiara was definitely suspicious, her eyes flickering between them with a look Luna couldn't quite read. However, eventually, the girl sighed loudly and smiled. Her flushed face faded, and her shoulders visibly untensed. "Next time tell me and I'll come with."
"Sorry Kie." Luna laughed a little, hoping the Carerra girl didn't notice the unintentional awkward tones it held. "We thought you were too tired."
"I guess so." She looked to the floor. "I just was worried I guess, when you weren't here and there wasn't a note. I thought you might have just... left. Like John B, and Pope."
