He wouldn't look at her, and she couldn't figure out why. Not even a glance in the girl's direction. They had kissed- she knew she wasn't imagining it, it definitely happened. And she definitely liked it. It had only been short, but it was wonderful. Like the sudden calm in the eye of a storm. Like the feeling of running into the ocean for the first time, or the warmth you feel on your face when sat near a flickering fire.
Yet now it was like she suddenly didn't exist.
It was JJ who had made his move on the girl, but it was him who had pulled away too. Luna had been unprepared, tears still rolling down her rosy cheeks, but she had leaned into his lips all the same because it just felt right. But then he moved backwards, suddenly and with an obvious frown. The warm feeling of his hand on her face vanished, leaving only a cold chill.
"Are you okay?" The brunette had asked quietly. She was still in a slight shock, breath hitched in her throat as she gazed at him. For a moment it had looked like he would smile and take her up in his arms again, but then he had gotten up from the bed and walked out the bedroom door without even a simple look back.
Now she was stood with all three pogue boys in John B's kitchen. The girl had tried as best as she could to remove any signs of her crying before rejoining them, but it was difficult when she looked the way she did. It had felt good to let it all out, but it had only really pushed back all the negativity for a little while longer. Plus JJ, who she thought she could finally open herself up to, was now acting like it had never happened. When she entered the room he didn't even ask how she was feeling. Had she trusted wrong? He seemed so welcoming before, but now it was different.
But it was fine, she would be fine.
When she first walked through, it was John B who immediately approached Luna. "I'm sorry Luna. I didn't mean for it to turn into this, and I'm sorry I used you to somehow justify all this-"
"It's fine, John B." Luna smiled. "I was overreacting anyway. You're all good."
He took a step back from her, scrunching his face to observe her own. Pope staring directly at her too made it clear she was still puffy and red. "You sure you're all good?"
"Yeah of course. Just needed some chill time." She glanced over to JJ who was fiddling with the lid of a beer bottle, no signs of recognition towards her evident at all.
"So what?" The blonde boy leaned up against the counter began, clearly continuing from whatever conversation they were having before. "We're just dead in the water because you're pussy-whipped?"
