Sarah and John B disappeared early in the morning, so they could go back to the Cameron residence and do whatever needed to be done there. This left Kiara, JJ and Luna at the Chateau; all of whom remained asleep until late morning. Pope had made his way home earlier, and they were expecting him to turn up sometime before lunch.
Luna and Kiara, after pulling themselves groggily out of bed, sat together at the table munching on dry cereal they'd found in one of John B's cupboard. JJ was spread out on the sofa, and when he finally stirred he let out a loud groan, alerting the others he was finally awake.
"I miss the rooster." Were the first four words he spoke, sitting up and rubbing a hand through his ruffled hair. The brunette with a mouthful of cheerios tried her best not to think about how good he looked in the morning, instead chewing quickly and keeping her eyes to herself. "It was like an unofficial alarm clock."
"Why? What happened to the rooster?" She finally replied when finishing. Kiara just shot her a stern look, telling her not to ask.
JJ just shrugged and got up, making his way over to the duo sat at the table. "It died."
"Oh."
"So what are we having for breakfast ladies?" He smirked as he made his way towards them, the playful grin completely contradicting his previous statement.
"We are having cereal, you can find your own food thank you very much." Kiara grumbled, picking at the food in her bowl. It was clear the girl wasn't a morning person.
JJ stretched then sat down at the third seat to the round table. "You're too kind to me Kie. I really do cherish this friendship."
The Carerra girl held up a middle finger and stood up, taking her bowl to the sink and placing it in. "That's real cute. Lu, tell him to get lost."
Luna clamped her mouth shut so as not to laugh at her friend, it seemed Kiara's slight hangover and JJ didn't mix well. She wasn't even sure what the boy had done to earn the snarky comments, it seemed he didn't either, but she didn't want to join him on the wrong side of her annoyance.
"What!" He scoffed. "What have I done?"
"Just..." Kie began, but trailed off. Maybe she didn't even have a reason to be frustrated. Luna grinned as her friend's face morphed when she tried to come up with words. "I don't know! Just go... go put a shirt on, JJ."
"Don't pretend you don't love it." He winked cockily and Kie scowled at him. "I know Lu does."
Then suddenly the attention was on her: the peaceful girl who was just trying to enjoy her breakfast without taking anyone's side. She knew it was all jokes, but caught in the act of chewing cheerios was never comfortable.
Her face flushed red and she shook her head quickly as she tried to swallow her mouthful. "No-" She began, but the small choking that came next informed her she spoke too soon. Both other teenagers simply watched their friend choke, to which Luna hit them with a breathless murmur of: "Thanks for the help guys. Just choking, no big deal."
