▪️Acacia POV▪️
"An anomaly" Sarah whispered.
"I knew it" I mumbled.
"Let's get to the car!" Abby shouted grabbing both mine and Sarah's arms.
As we ran back to the car we heard Danny and Connor behind us.
"In the car, get inside the car!" Connor shouted "there's a creature!"
We heard the sound of a birds call echoing in the woods, jumping in the passenger seat with Connor in the driver and the others in the back, Connor quickly turned the key in the ignition driving slowly at first so Danny can get in the bed of the truck.
With him in the bed, Connor slammed his foot on the accelerator taking off through the woods.
The creature was nowhere to be seen when suddenly as a giant bird I know as a Phorusrhacidae appeared behind the truck snapping at Danny trying to drag him off the car, Danny was able to get a metal tool spins back to face the bird but only to see it wasn't there.
"Where has it gone?" Sarah cried as we no longer see it.
Then it appears on Connor's side of the window throwing its head through the window smashing the glass causing me to scream backing myself against my door as Connor swerved trying to get control back as the girls scream in the back.
"You ok?" Connor spoke wildly as he has control back.
"It's gone again" Abby noticed.
Not for long though as it appeared behind Danny again attempting to peck his head off but Danny was able to duck in time too as avoid losing his life and repeatedly hit the bird in the head with his wrench.
"Connor can you drive faster!" I shouted at him as he went faster down the narrow bumming road.
Connor suddenly slammed on the breaks as hard as he could causing the creature to trip right into the truck and get knocked out.
"Well it worked for an angry G-Rex it can work for a Phorusrhacidae" I laughed breathlessly leaning back into the chair.
But unfortunately, it didn't stop the bird so Connor picked up his speed again as he tried to lose it.
The bird suddenly rushed in front of us causing Connor to swerve quite sharply and it caused Danny to disappear off the side of the truck.
"Oh my god, I think I've killed Danny" Connor breathed as I turn around to the back.
"I can see his legs" I informed the others.
"Danny!" the girls shouted out to him in fear.
Danny managed to get his wrench in the Phorusrhacidae eye from hanging upside down causing the bird to roar in pain and for it to drop back and with this Danny was able to pick himself up and moving into the middle of the bed.
"Yes!" Sarah screamed as we all cheered.
We turned to smile at Danny not realising Connor has as well, turning back around only for a scream to come out of my mouth.
"Connor!" Sarah screamed as we watched the broken log come closer quick but Connor wasn't able to swerve this time so the broken log smashed straight through the middle of the car hanging out both ends of the windshields.
Danny who had been thrown from the truck because of the impact came running back to the truck and opened Sarah's door first.
"You alright?" He asked nervously.
