CHAPTER 23

Sa mga ganitong oras noon, siguro nandoon ako sa HOS at nakikipagkulitan sa mga sovereigns. But now... It's completely different and weird. Having no sovereigns around me felt so odd and... lonely. This is the first day that I decided not to go lunch with them and it's very hard. Kung hindi ko lang siguro kaklase sila Hurricane, baka nag-gate crash na ako doon sa HOS. Pero dahil medyo gumagaan naman ang pakiramdam dahil kinukwento nila ni Yuri kung anong kalokohan na naman ang ginagawa nila... Pero mas lalo ko tuloy silang na-miss... Hindi ko sila nakita dito sa campus, eh. Sabagay, hindi din sila lumalabas kapag nasa HOS na eh.

"Seyoso ka ba, girl? Gusto mo talaga kaming kasama kumain?"

My eyes drifted to Yani when she asked that. Nakahalumbaba ako sa mesa sa loob ng library habang sya naman ay inaayos ang ilang libro. I learned that she's a scholar here and also a working student. I’m really starting to admire Yani.

"Why not? Pang-thank you na din sa ginawa nyo. Lalo na sa 'yo, Yana. It must've been hard for you to confess your feelings for Jason..." I said, but more on teasing.

She laughed and gently hit my shoulder. "Ano ka ba! Okay lang! Tsaka sanay na ako sa mga aggressive girls ni Jason, 'no! Halos lahat ng babae nya ganoon, eh. Ikaw lang yung plain tsaka demure."

I wrinkled my nose. "I’m not one of his girls, though..."

She rolled her eyes. "Duh. Dense ka ba?"

"Hindi. Bakit?" tanong ko.

Her jaw dropped and squeezed her eyes close before massaging her temples. "Argh! I can't believe you! Hindi ako makapaniwalang gusto ka nya! Ganyan ba mga type ni Jason?!"

Napatingin ako sa librong nasa mesa. I checked the title, and I realized that I had already read this one.

"What are you talking about?" tanong ko na lang at tiningnan sya.

"I'm talking about Jason liking you!"

My eyes twinkled, and I snapped my finger. "Oh! Jason likes everyone, though! He also likes Hurricane!"

Jason, I think is a natural lover, I mean... He's very good at handling girls. Kaya siguro marami na ring babae ang nahuhumaling sa kanya. He's handsome - common characteristic that single woman wants. But there's something more to him, anyway. Something... I couldn't explain.

And he's also very vocal about saying he likes Hurricane and that's fine with everyone... maybe not for Wynd. But I think they got bro code or something, that's why Jason back off.

"Beh..." tiningnan nya ako, she looks like she's stopping herself from hitting me on the head. "Hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko sayo. Kung hindi ko lang alam na dating prinsesa ka, binatukan na kita!"

I laughed. "You'll do that if we're friends!"

"Are we not?!" she raised a brow.

"Secret!" I stuck my tongue out.

She rolled her eyes bago ako tiningnan ng seryoso. "Saan ba tayo kakain ng lunch? Sure kang ayaw mong kumain kasama sovereigns?"

I shrugged. "I’m adjusting to my new school life without having them around. At least, I have you and Destine... Ngayon lang naman ito, baka bukas kasama ko sila..."

Not like I could endure a life without them, anyway! I can't believe I’m craving for Mae and Cal's catfights.

She sighed before putting all the books on the shelf. Pinagpagan nya iyong uniform nya na may kaunting alikabok. "Sa club tayo ni Destine kakain. During lunch kasi, walang tao doon kasi lahat ng mga members doon, sa labas kumakain."

"Okay!" I grinned.

Nagpaalam muna sya sa librarian na magl-lunch sya. During her break daw ay dito sya dumidiretso para tumulong kay Ma'am Mondragon. Pero minsan, binibigyan din sya ng time para makapag-aral at makapag-review lalo na kapag malapit na iyong examination.
