Chapter 42

The news about Israel and I dating spread like a wildfire not just in our department but in the whole hospital. I don't know exactly know who spread it. Actually, Israel and I agreed to make the whole dating thing private. But a 'chismosa' had the guts to tell it to everybody.

Israel is quite famous at the hospital because of his looks and intelligence. Hindi talaga nakakapagtaka kung bakit alam na iyon ng buong ospital. Magugulat pa ako kung hindi dahil halos lahat ata ng nagtatrabaho sa ospital na ito ay kilala siya.

Sa tuwing nakikita tuloy nila kami ni Israel na nag-uusap ay magsisimula na silang humirit sa amin. Kahit nga madaanan lang namin ang isa't -isa ay may humihirit na agad.

As much as we want to make it private, we can't. These nosy people kept on pushing us together kahit na tatlong beses pa lang naman kami nag de-date. I don't really know why they are making a big deal out of this.

Maybe there is not much of a fun happening in their lives that's why they kept on talking about ours.

You know Philippines. Once the word spread there is no stopping it.

I am inside the bathroom cubicle to pee when I heard footsteps and the closing door. I was about to flush when I heard my name being murdered.

Awtomatiko na nahinto sa ere ang kamay ko bago ko pa mapindot ang flush. Ibinaba ko ang takip ng bowl gamit ang tissue at umupo doon.

I stayed quiet inside the cubicle wile listening to their conversation.

"I don't know what's with Israel! I never knew he who'd stoop down to Amara's level."Punong-puno ng pagkadisgusguto na sinabi ni Sabbriah.

"She must have used some tricks on him." Tumawa ang kausap niya na hindi ko alam kung sino. Probably one of her minions.

What tricks is she talking about? It's pure beauty.

"That bitch! I'm really annoyed with her. Sigurado naman ako na pera lang ang habol niya kay Israel." I heard Sabbriah spoke with so much hate

Ilang sandali pa akong nanatili doon upang marinig ang galit nila sa akin. Nang marinig ko na sumasara ang pinto ay saka pa lamang ako lumabas.

"Hatid na kita?" Israel said while I am picking up my things.

He stood in front of with his hands inside his pockets. Then he leaned on the wall.

When I was done picking up my things, I faced him. Seryoso ko siyang tinignan bago magsalita.

"Let's talk outside?"

I felt him getting nervous. Sumunod lang siya sa akin hanggang sa makalabas na kami ng ospital.

Huminto ako sa labas ng ospital at ganoon din ang ginawa niya.

Hinarap ko siya bago magbuntong hininga.

"I know where this is going." He chuckled. "Basted na ba ako?"

Napakunot ang noo ko sa kaniya.

"What?" Natatawa kong sabi. "No... No!"

Napanguso siya dahil doon.

"Thank God. So what is it?" Nakahinga siya ng malalim pagkatapos noon.

"Yeah, about that. Uhm..." Tinigil ko ang pagtawa at sumeryoso. "You know that the whole hospital knows about the dating thing." Tumango siya. "I really want it to be private so... Uhm... I think we should stop going out? Don't get me wrong. Papahupain muna natin ang mga bali-balita doon. Ayoko kasi ng masyadong pinag-uusapan." Tumingin ako sa sahig at hinawakan ang kamay ko.
