11: The "Dad" Bomb

I stood beside the serving pass as I saw the waiters take out the 5 tier cake prepared specially for the event.

Service was finished. Everyone enjoyed the "Traditional & Modern" themed dinner.

I took a tiring sigh of relief. I turn back to see the exhausted Hongjoong as he came out of the pass. He pointed at the water bottle I had in my hand. I gave it to him and made my way downstairs.

I knew what was going to happen. They'll cut and eat the cake, then there'll be some games and BTS will perform on their songs.

I wasn't interested in that. So, I was going downstairs to sit in a sofa and relax. But what I saw after reaching downstairs, I did not expect in my wildest dreams.

I saw my dad typing on his phone and standing in the lobby.

I thought no one except company staff and cafè staff was allowed in or out. Then how did he get in?

My dad noticed me at the stairs and said as I reached to him,

"Oh! My dear Taerim! How beautiful do you..."

"What are you doing, appa? And who let you in?"

I was furious and I cut into whatever my dad was about to say. My dad acted like nothing happened and said,

"That's not the main issue. I want to talk with you."

I heard some footsteps coming down. I looked back to see that it was Hongjoong. I just said,

"I don't want to talk with you now, appa. Please leave!"

As I said that, I turned on my heels to see Hongjoong running towards me. But then my dad said something that I was not prepared to hear at all.

"It's about your marriage."

I was stunned in awe to what I just heard. I also saw Hongjoong coming to a halt by hearing my dad's words. I just turned around to my dad in horror and asked,

"What do you mean by my marriage?"

My dad had a satisfied grin on his face knowing that he had succeeded to stop me. Then he spoke in his business tone,

"Do you know Kim Global Enterprises, the largest multinational company in South Korea?"

I just replied to that,

"Why are talking about a company? Just cut to the chase."

I said as I felt Hongjoong coming closer to us.

"The owner of the company, he wants to merge his multinational company with ours. But on one condition."

"WHAT is a company merge doing here? Just tell me what do you mean about my wedding?!"

I asked, now getting furious as ever. Then my dad said, holding my shoulders in his arm length,

"Well, that's the thing. He has a younger son and he wants him to marry you for the company merge."

WHAT!!!

My dad wanted me to get married to a man that I never even met in my whole life and spend the rest of my life with him for a company merge? I just said with a stunned face,

"What? But I have never even met him in my life!"

He just gave an assuring smile and said,

"You did meet him. Today, just now. Look, there he is."

He pointed his finger up. As I look up, what I saw was literally impossible.

I saw Kim Seokjin slowly leaning on the second floor grill as he looked outside with perfect elegance.

I can't believe it.

The guy whom I just met a few hours ago, was about to marry me for a business matter? I just looked at my dad with a blank expression as he explained with joy,

"He is internationally famous, good looking and has a sophisticated family background. Am I not the best father in the world?"

I just blurted out,

"Appa, I don't want to get married."

I could not bear the thought of marriage. The thought of it just brings up too many memories in my mind.

The memories that I had locked up in my mind a long time ago. Memories that I didn't want to remember.

Memories that make me want to take a knife and slit my wrists and throat and die.

My dad looked at me with a joking face and said,

"Don't say nonsense. You're getting married with Kim Seokjin in 3 months from now. And that's final."

As he said that, he came closer to me and kissed my forehead before leaving from the café.

I kept rewinding his last sentence in my mind in a frozen position.

And that's final.
