37: Setting Up & Got Caught

By that time, he had made to the table and was sitting in front of Jiae. I then spoke again,

"But I would like to introduce you to my best friend Kim Taehyung, or V of BTS. And Taehyung, this is my female best friend, Han Jiae."

Theyboth were flustered for a while. But then Taehyung brought his hand forward, while Jiae hesitantly shaked it back. I could not help but smile for Taehyung. He likes her so much. So I want to see Jiae like him the same way as well.

Suddenly my phone started to vibrate in my pocket. I took it out to see a message from Hongjoong.

I looked back to the counter to see Hongjoong signaling me to come. I turned back to Taehyung and Jiae and stood up and said,

"Umm... I have a counter emergency. So, I'll just come back in a few."

I then slowly rushed off to the counter and stood in front of the register computer. Hongjoong was standing right beside me and asked,

"What's up with Mr. V? Why do him and the girl seem so shy? Did you set him on a blind date?"

I turned to him and smacked him on his head and said,

"Before that, who was that guy who was flirting with her, talking in a gentleman tone, avoiding my eyes and glaring at me when I gave her order for her?? Did you have a crush on her?"

He enlarged his eyes in shock as he replied,

"Uhh, what? Me, and a crush. No, no, noona. You got me all wrong. I was just doing that due to service etiquette."

I then said,

"Yeah, yeah. Like service etiquette doesn't count when your boss and senior is front of you. And what do you mean by a blind date? They are just meeting each other for the first..."

Hongjoong cut into my sentence with a know-it-all look while rolling his eyes on me and said,

"Noona! Even I can see that these two like each other. And look, they both just changed business cards with each other."

I immediately looked at that table and couldn't help but smile at the literally cute scene unfolded in front of me. I then said,

"Well, I hope so. But why did you call me like that?"

He then replied with a guilty grin,

"Just because I was curious."

I almost smacked him on his head again as I said,

"You tell this to anyone, I will make sure that you never debut."

He took a gulp on his own saliva and nodded a yes. I walked away to the table with our order and a extra Milk Tea for Taehyung to see that they were timidly talking with each other. I then asked as I sat down with the drinks,

"Well, what are you both talking about?"

They both looked at me as Taehyung replied,

"Oh! Jiae was telling me about her profession."

I looked at Jiae as she was going all over the place. She spoke,

"Uhh... I am a doctor as well as a Taekwondo teacher to children. I was in Y.. Yemen for the last 3 years and just came back 3 days ago."

I then said,

"Has Taehyung told you about his profession?" 

Then Jiae shyly said,

"He doesn't have to. His face is his profession's introduction. He's in BTS."

That caused Taehyung to blush wild. Then he got a sudden call from his manager and left after ending the Milk Tea and saying bye to us. All that was left was was me and Jiae with our drinks on the table.

But it wasn't for long.

After a few minutes of awkward silence, Jiae asked,

"Why did you bring him here?"

I simply replied,

"You did say that you wanted to meet my male best friend, didn't you? So he was in the neighbourhood and I decided to call him here. But why are you asking that?"

I thought she would be happy, excited, thrilled. But instead, the look she had was stunned and of disbelief. She then somehow said,

"Then why didn't you tell me that it was Kim Taehyung of BTS out of everyone?"

I then spoke in a stunned tone and said,

"So what? What difference it would have made if I had told you that it was him?"

She then shyly and slowly said,

"Then I would've told you something as well." 

Okay, what's with people not telling me stuff out loud in the first place? I just gave up and asked in a hopeless tone,

"What?"

She gulped down the remainder of her Iced Americano and said,

"Do you remember that I never actually dated someone in high school or in college?"

I then calmly replied,

"Yes, you were the girl who always refused every guy who approached you. What about it?"

She then gave a huge sigh and said,

"Well, that was because there was this boy I had a crush on and I always pushed away other boys and was waiting for him to notice me. I.... Tell me I was a fool."

I sighed before smacking her on the head and replied,

"You were a fool. And a humongous one."

Now I feel like I was a blind idiot in high school. My two best friends secretly liked each other for about 8 years, and I just got to see that. I was baffled as I said,

"You could've just asked me about it once. I might've caught up to you and helped you out."

She facepalmed herself as she replied,

"I know! But back then, I felt like if I asked you, I'd look like a selfish friend who has no good reason to be with you except personal interest. And he always a little too out of my league. Also, I never really knew that he was your male best friend to even be able to ask for help."

I then thought,

She is right. I never told her that he was a friend.

But then I shrugged and said,

"Men are always like that."

But then I heard a too familiar voice ask me as it sent chills down my spine and increased my heartbeat.

"Men are always like what, noona?"

[A/N: For you ease in visualizing, please imagine Momo of TWICE in Jiea's position. and wasn't it too cute to see both Tae and Jiae be shy and clutzy to each other. And who did even think of it (definitely not Taerim), that even Jiae was head over eels for Taehyung. Well, who won't be? The most handsome man to exist on the planet is your classmate, any and everyone would've had a crush on him in a heartbeat.
