Chapter 19

The fight was already going on, Shadow had been trying to get closer to attack, but without success, now the hedgehog was walking towards Rouge. She realizes that Shadow is exhausted.

"Are you already feeling?" Rouge asks.

"What."

"Your energy is running out."

Shadow doesn't respond.

"Give up. The fight was over when you took off your rings."

"What are you talking about?"

"I planned to get you to remove your rings. Your energy runs out faster like that. After doing that, I just had to tire him out."

Shadow went into shock. "How did I miss it?" The hedgehog asked himself in thought.

"I'm impressed, Rouge." Another voice spoke. They both looked in the direction the voice came from. It was Scourge.

"Scourge! You coward! Have you been hiding all along ?!"

"I only complied with my partner's wishes. Thing you didn't do. Sorry if she prefers me now."The green hedgehog laughed.

Shadow ground his teeth and closed his eyes.

"Do you see now, Shadow? If you had heard your friend, you would not be in that situation. And I must admit Rouge." Scourge looked at the bat. "I really didn't expect you to make it."

Rouge turned his face away.

"Or else, all this talk about the ultimate life form was just small talk, all the time. You know, I'm not so disappointed now with the useless Umbra. You two are just as useless. Two weak, who let their feelings for a bat control you."

"Scourge. I want to make another deal." Rouge interrupted the green hedgehog. Shadow and Scourge were surprised by the sudden comment.

"Another deal? You haven't even finished your first one. How do you want..."

"I want you to leave Umbra and Rubis alone. I know someone who can be really useful to you."
The green hedgehog got serious. "Who?"

"Just as you hate Sonic, he hates Shadow. He was created to defeat Shadow. He's really powerful. Best of all, you won't have to pretend to be good in front of him."

Shadow understood that Rouge was referring to his brother, Eclipse. "Rouge! What are you saying?"

"I confess that I was curious. Okay, but I'll want to meet you first. Now let me finish, what you started." Scourge looked at Shadow.

"Not. I already disabled you. You promised not to kill him."

"Scourge! What's going on here?" It was Umbra. He had arrived with Rubis.

"Umbra ?! Get out of here now!" The green hedgehog screamed.

Umbra and Rubis were startled to see Shadow. He and Umbra were identical.

"Scourge ..." There was anger in Rubis' voice. "I heard the things you said. While we were arriving."

Scourge was sweating cold. "Not. You got it wrong. You just heard the conversation at the end. Out of context."

"Umbra. He was deceiving us. I was using you and blackmailing Rouge. He's not a hero at all."

"Umbra, I took you out of that useless little village. I introduced the world to you. I trained you. I showed you the powers you didn't know you had. You are destining for greatness. I made you the man you are now."

"Enough Scourge." Umbra took Rubis's hand. And she held his tightly. "You didn't do anything to me. I am who I am now because of the people, like Rubis, who were part of my history."

Rubis smiled and blushed at Umbra's words. Shadow and Rouge looked at each other. There was sadness in Rouge's eyes.

"That's enough, Scourge. I can't go on with this anymore." Rouge shouted.
Shadow smiled at that.

"No one can be trusted at all. It is not?" Scourge said this with irony in his voice. "I'm sad about that." The green hedgehog laughed.

"I'm already tired of you, Scourge." Shadow spoke.

The green hedgehog turned to Shadow. "In fact, I had already come up with a countermeasure plan in case you didn't agree to work with me. Sorry, but I couldn't risk letting someone like you free."

The floor under Shadow's feet then opens up, when the hedgehog begins to fall, two metal structures appear, in front of and behind Shadow, which end up trapping him completely, leaving only his head free.

Everyone was unresponsive due to such an unexpected surprise.

"I left just to seek your contingency." Scourge laughed.

Shadow tries to use his strength to break the machine, but he fails. "What is this Scourge thing? You didn't say anything about it. " Rouge shouted.

"Ahh... I think I forgot, sorry" Scourge laughed.

"It looks like my genius worked again." An unknown female voice spoke. No one had noticed, but there was someone else at that location. Except for Scourge, who had brought her here.
A figure came out of the darkness among the trees. A human figure. As they approached the moonlit area, everyone could see that it was a woman. A woman with blond hair.

Rouge was in shock. The black hedgehog gritted his teeth and closed his eyes in anger, but suddenly the expression on his face changed, a mixture of surprise and fear. He recognized who that woman was. "M-Maria ?!"
