Back in their universe, the trio was now in a long corridor, with a window, it was possible to see a night sky. Rouge approached the window. Just below you could see the planet. The three were at ARK.
"He brought us to his old home." Rouge spoke.
"Yeah ... it was the first place that came to mind."
"Evolution." Omega spoke. "Many species have an instinct to return to their birthplace."
Shadow and Rouge looked at their fellow robot, then exchanged looks and finally laughed.
"Hey Omega, you were never here, right?" Rouge asked.
"Negative."
Rouge looked at Shadow. "We will present the location to him before we leave."
Shadow smiled. "It's all right."
After a tour of ARK and a lot of conversation between the trio of friends, Shadow and Rouge were now admiring the view of the planet through the space colony's window, without Omega.
Although they were not talking, the two were more comfortable, as they were finally having a moment alone in a long time, in each other's company.
And... what about the ring? Spoke Shadow.
"Well..." The bat lowered its ears. "You don't remember, but it was back then when we met. We all believed that you had died. " Rouge looked at the ring and started to run one over it. "It was the only memory that remained of you ... until you came back." She blushed and smiled at the black hedgehog, who also blushed. "And think that I almost lost you again."
"This will not happen again."
The two smiled at each other. Then they were quiet again.
"hey you know something funny i noticed?" Said rouge.
''What?"
"Even in a universe where everything is the other way around, we are still together."
At that moment Shadow blushed and Rouge noticed. "Yeah... I already noticed that. I wondered if you noticed it too."
"Could it be that in the other worlds where there are versions of us, they are also together?"
"Perhaps." Then Shadow closed his eyes and a smile appeared on his face. "But I like to believe so."
Rouge smiled. "Coincidence? Destiny?"
"Hmm..." Shadow gave a light laugh. "The best pair that exists, cannot be missing in any universe."
Rouge laughed at that answer. "Yeah ... I liked that theory."
"I think we are essential to each other."
At that moment Rouge blushed, and turned his face towards Shadow. "Do you think that?"
Shadow just extended his hand to her in response, and turned his face in her direction. Then Rouge took Shadow's hand. Both approached until they touched their foreheads, looking at each other in the eyes. Shadow raised Rouge's hand, and she let him lead her, until both hands reached her chin and stayed there. Rouge placed his other hand on Shadow's cheek, and he did the same with Rouge. Both closed their eyes and touched their noses. And finally they touched their lips.
It was a brief kiss. Finished, the two opened their eyes and looked at each other again.
Rouge laughed. "Yeah ... the supreme way of life doesn't know how to kiss." Shadow looked away and they both laughed. "Don't worry dear, we are a pair, one has a lot to learn from the other." Rouge said that now, holding Shadow's chin and running his thumb over his bottom lip.
"Thank you." Shadow replied.
The two embraced and stood looking at the beautiful view of the blue planet below, while the sun, previously hidden behind the planet, began to emerge with its increasingly strong rays of light, illuminating the figure of the couple there.
A tear streamed from Rouge's eye. She wrapped Shadow with her wings. "This is going to be a fresh start, for both of us."
