Rouge was back in the cabin, she was still uncomfortable, being in a place with someone who looked the same as her old great friend, Shadow. She had been trying not to think about him, since the two had separated. The bat was in the living room, sitting on the sofa, looking at the small, unfinished wooden sculpture of a giraffe.
"It looks like you really liked my sculpture."
Rouge turned. It was Rubis who had just entered the room.
"I haven't finished it yett."
'Actually ... yes, it is getting incredible. You have a lot of talent."
"Nonsense. There is no such thing. Talent. It's just practical. Anyone can learn."
"Don't slow down, dear. A little pride is good."
The two bats laughed together.
"You look beautiful smiling, you know?" Rubis spoke.
"I?"
"It's just that when you arrived, you looked so scared and had stayed here in the room, until now, a recluse."
Rouge lowered his ears to his hands, which were on his knees. "I'm sorry, it's been difficult for me. So much has happened in the last few days."
"Really. Mr. Scourge told us about the Suppression Squad. The horrible things that they have done to everyone in Moebius."
Rouge raised his ears and looked at Rubis.
"He said he was tired of seeing so much horror caused by them, and decided to face them. I confess that I was nervous when he showed up here in the village. I thought he was a thug. Fortunately, this time, my intuition was wrong." The bat laughed.
"Yeah, I know how it is. The evil of being paranoid." Rouge gave a fake laugh. "He came after Umbra, right?"
"Yes. He already told you about Umbra."
"Not much. It just said something about potential, to help you."
"Helping everyone. That's what Mr Scourge told us. " Rubies blushed and Rouge realized this. "Except ... I'm still concerned about Umbra's safety."
"Rubies, please, we've talked about this already." Umbra had just entered the room. He had his arms crossed and a smile on his face. And he no longer wore his apron and was no longer dirty with grease.
"Umbra, you can still die fighting those bad guys."
"Once I have awakened my power, they will be no problem."
"Honey, I know that Mr. Scourge always says that his power will make a difference. But you still..."
"Sorry, but..." Rouge interrupted them. "What do you mean, wake up?"
"Mr Scourge is training me. He said that I have great power ... But so far this power has not appeared. " The hedgehog looked sad now.
Rouge understood in part, what that power should be, that they were talking about. After all, he had already seen the variety of powers that his former partner has. Shadow's version of this world could have the same potential. So, why didn't he? It was now, the doubt that was going on in his mind.
She knew she couldn't say too much, as it might raise suspicions. She needed to pretend to be ignorant. "Sorry, but what is that power? And as I understand it. You didn't know you had it, so how did Scourge see that power, if you never saw it yourself?"
Umbra and Rubis looked at each other. Until the hedgehog spoke. "Well, I think we will need to tell you our story first. Enjoy, while Mr. Scourge and Tynna don't arrive."
"He can arrive at any time and will interrupt us. Leave it for another time then."
"I find it difficult. When Tynna disappears, even Mr. Scourge, with his super speed, it takes time to find her."
The bat was curious as to who this Tynna might be. But for now, the story of Umbra and Rubis interested him more.
