Chapter 5 - The Bass

Louis and I walked into the place where he was auditioning for XFactor season seven, we did our secret handshake before he walked up to the reception desk with a charismatic smile. The lady ended up smiling firtatulousy back at him, I scoffed in annoyance. She's what twenty-something and he's not yet eighteen, gross much?
"Name?" She asked in a flirtatious smile
I fought the urge to hurl, god Louis girls must have the worst taste in guys if they could even consider you as an option. Louis flashed her a dazzling smile and again I fought the urge to hurl, how much more revolting will this day get?
"Louis Tomlinson." He replied
She faulted a little bit before typing it in her computer, I scoffed. Really, I thought, it's the last name that puts her off and not his personality? Suprise Louis, someone is actually into your for once and she's like ten years older than you.
"It's a couple minutes wait but then they'll be ready." She replied, her tone professional
"Thanks for your help!" Louis replied cheerfully
She flashed him a small smile that looked more like a grimace and he skipped off and returned to my side, I shook my head at him playfully. Louis smiled at me and pointed to my shoes, I looked down at them before looking back at him.
"Velcro-what a rip-off!" He said
I looked down at my shoes, they were simple trainers but they had velcro instead of laces because laces are just a bother and your trip over them all the time.
"Do you think I'll do good?" He asked "Actually don't answer that, I'll do amazing!"
I shook my head before a joke we heard in a comedy festival came to mind.
"Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions?" I asked "I do."
We both started laughing, this is just how we work, we use cheesy one liners or jokes at every possibility we get. We also love watching comedy festivals together and old comedy movies or shows, they're just so hilarious. We always annoy Felicite, Lottie, Daisy and Phoebe whenever we go over to Mum's place with them, it's the best!" We both sat down and waited for the lady to come get Louis to get him to audition, in the meantime we started browsing through our arsenal of comedy festivals to watch later.
"That one definitely" He stated pointing to one
I clicked into it before reading it a bit further, groaning in annoyance.
"Why that one?" I asked
He pointed to who it had in it which I had skipped over because the festival just sounded boring in general.
"Because it has Rob Delaney in it."
I looked closer and realized he was right, a smile took over my face, who's Rob Delaney you ask? He's only the best Comedian of this year! I clicked on it before saving it and starting to download it, Louis looked at me strangely.
"It has Rob Delaney in it so of course we're watching it!" I replied
He smiled happily, clapped his hands twice like a child before locking eyes with me and laughing at my unamused face. My face broke out into a smile because I couldn't contain my laughter any more so I started laughing right along with him. We didn't notice until the lady cleared her throat that she was standing right in front of us, we stopped laughing and were pretty sure our faces resembled that of little kids caught with their hands in the cookie jar. She looked down on us with an unimpressed look.
"Louis Tomlinson their ready for you now." She said in a disapproving tone
I rolled my eyes as he nodded and stood up, following her into the studio, I flashed him the thumbs up when he looked behind at me.
"Rude." I muttered
I shot the random reception lady a dirty look when her back was turned and she was leading Louis to the studio. I rolled my eyes before pulling out my phone and opening instagram before scrolling through my feed. I went into one of our group chats and started talking to Hilly and Lilly on our group chat. They were inquiring about Louis, don't tell him but Lilly has a major crush on him and don't tell her but he would never see her like that, he thinks she's too childish for him. I get where he's coming from and it would be extremely weird to have your friend date your brother and I don't really want her to. I know that sounds weird but their personalities would clash in the worst way possible. I opened a couple snapchats from Jacob, my friend from school. Louis often teases me about having a crush on him but please don't listen to him please. I continued mucking around on my phone and then the studio doors opened with a bang, I looked up to find my older brother running towards me, a childish grin on his face.
"I did it Mikki!" He yelled "I DID IT!"
I jumped up and gave him a hug while we both jumped up and down in excitement.
"CONGRATULATIONS LOU!!!" I yelled back at him
We continued our jumping session until it was rudely interrupted by the extremely rude receptionist lady who was into my brother until she heard his last name.
"You need to leave, you are disrupting the rest of the room."
We stopped jumping and turned to her, I looked around the room and had to fight the laughter that threatened to bubble over. There was no one else in the room except us and her, Louis noticed as well and decided to say something.
"Okay we'll stop disrupting the EMPTY room that only we are in." He sassed
I giggled quietly and we walked out of the room happily. I put out my hand and Louis slapped it before we did our secret handshake for the second time that day.
"The Sass masta from Doncasta." I whispered
He laughed as we walked towards where Louis parked the car. He unlocked it before we both climbed in, he started up the engine and started our journey home. We spent the time discussing the comedy festival we went to last week.
"Who was your favourite?" I asked
"Definitely Natasha Leggero." He replied
I nodded, she was so good she had the entire audience in stitches throughout her whole comedy routine, no wonder she was Lou's favourite. We pulled into the driveway, jumped out the car before running inside and jumping onto the couch. I pulled out my iPad Pro and opened the stand up comedy festival we selected earlier with Rob Delaney in it. Before I played it I needed to talk to Louis for a second.
"How rude was that receptionist lady?" I asked
"So rude although she was into me in the beginning."
I nodded in agreement while he smirked.
"Yeah until she heard your last name."
We laughed together as I played the comedy festival, as the introduction was rolling I quickly ran and fetched snacks from the kitchen. I sat back down next to him and put the bowl of snacks in between us, he didn't look up until I sat down.
"Congratulations Lou." I whispered
He smiled at me before we started watching the festival intently, his arm wrapped around me.
