Grian was pacing. He had walked the length of the lowest tier of his base several times over, all the while holding the old book in his hands. He was nervous. He had bought up the idea with Doc before, and Doc was ok with it, but it was so out there that Grian half expected Doc to laugh at him when he eventually arrived. Grian stopped short and took a deep breath. The quiet sounds of the sea, the birds faint chirping from the top tier of his base, and the harsh cawing of the gulls and other seabirds outside filled the base.
His heart was racing. His hands shook as he reopened the thick leather bound book. Grian's eyes scanned the page. Over and over again his eyes traced the black ink. It was a simple spell. Something someone with no past magical experience, aka Grian, could do, but even for magic it was odd and out there.
A bubble of anxiety floated to Grains chest. Why did he select Doc for such an mysterious spell, you may ask. Well kids, Grian himself was wondering the same thing. The spell needed mutual love and affection to work, so he could have just asked Mumbo or Iskall, his best, closest friends, but no, Grian chose the one person he had no idea how they felt about him. Grian loved Doc. Romantically loved Doc. He had for a while, but he never said anything.
'That is something for future Grian to deal with!' Past Grian had told himself when he realized his feelings for his fellow hermit. Now Future Grian is Present Grian and that present Grian is past Grian, and boy howdy does present Grian hate that guy.
The familiar sound of fireworks echoed though Grian's tower. He took a deep breath. Doc landed with a slide in front of Grian, whose heart was racing at this point. Normally he would be fine around doc, but this was different. This was magic. This was something insane that might take hours if not days of practice to accomplish if not master.
"Hey Grian," Doc said giving a small wave. "So when you said Fusion spell, you mean Fusion Spell like two people or-"
Grian lightly tossed the book at his guest. "From the wording, and the fact it needs multiple people, im guessing it means Fusion."
Docs eyes scanned the page not picking up on the "love and acceptance" part for all its meaning. He grinned, his one dark eye flashing bighter. "Wow.."
Grian took a deep breath. He had asked the question before, but he wanted to make sure. "Wanna try?"
Doc looked up, slightly surprised, before smirking. "Why not? It'll either be hilarious if it fails or awesome if it succeeds!"
Grian smiled, his anxiety mostly melting away. It was sunset, and the low sun cast dramatic shadows all around, setting the mood for magic. The pair stood face to face, or as face to face as you can when one is almost a foot shorter than the other, and took each other's hands. Grian felt his face flush but was to busy running over in incantation in his mind to either care or notice that Doc was similarly blushing. They closed their eyes and recited the chant.
One in heart.
One in body.
Two in Mind.
Two in Soul.
Bound by choice
Spirt,
And love
Let our fates combine and unite us.
For one moment or our lives.
For a moment it felt as if nothing had happened but they let go of each others hands. And then Doc voice echoed though Grian's mind.
Did it work?
