The story goes back to twenty-three years ago, to a wealthy couple named Salvador and Ariana Del Fierro, who owned Hacienda Del Fierro in the town of San Roque. They owned vast amounts of land. They had hundreds of workers working at their various farms every day - from fruits and vegetables, to rice, to sugar, to livestock. The neighbors thought they were the perfect couple and the richest of them all.

But behind every beautiful thing lies a dark secret. Salvador and Ariana, along with most workers of the hacidenda, were manananggals.

Every full moon, they gather themselves in a secret lair hidden under the mansion. The room was dark, eerie, full of dead men's bones. There were lit candles, curtains of black and gothic-style furniture. The gloominess was apparent.

As Salvador rose up the pedestal, everyone stripped themselves off and began their transformations. Their bodies twisted as their waists began to split. Their hands grew claws, while wings formed beneath their backs.

At that particular night, Salvador announced that Ariana's child and the heir apparent,  is about to be born.

"Everyone must know that my wife Ariana will bear a child. And I shall name him Alexander."

Every creature in the room roared in delight.

And to celebrate, the creatures were to attack a town as a sacrificial ritual. They attacked the town of Bungang Kahoy and killed a hundred people.

However, a married couple known to be faith healers came to lead the resistance against the mananaggal horde. Don Salvador and Doña Ariana were furious,  as their plan became doomed.
