As chaos unfolded in the inn, Alice del Fierro seized the opportunity and swiftly moved through the crowd. With supernatural speed, she reached Tabby, grabbing her by the arm.
"You thought you could escape, little girl?" Alice hissed, her eyes gleaming with malice.
Tabby struggled, trying to break free, but Alice's grip was unnaturally strong. The Changco family, realizing the imminent danger, rallied together to protect Tabby.
Meanwhile, Jeremy del Fierro, fueled by the same malevolence as his sister, descended upon the Changco family with a relentless onslaught.
"Well, are you the family of Tabby?," mocked Jeremy, "Tell me if you want your daughter back. Well, she will return in pieces!" He let out an evil laugh.
"You sick monster! Tabitha is ours!", shouted Daddy Elijah.
Elijah found a bamboo pole lying in the inn's lobby, and there he attempted to fight Jeremy with it. But Jeremy was too fast for the middle-aged man.
"That's what you have?", asked Jeremy, " Well, Daddy, let me show you what I've got!"
Jeremy swooped down towards Elijah and slashed the father's chest with his sharp claws.
"Daddy! No!" cried Tabby as she witnessed her father get injured at the hands of Jeremy.
Alice mocked Tabby, "That's what you get from bringing your cutie-patootie boyfriend into this town! Your family will join you into oblivion!"
"Honey! No! Please spare his life!" cried Mommy Miriam, running towards her bloodied husband Eli. Her other children Bart and Liza could only cry, not knowing how to help their father.
The citizens of San Roque, witnessing the true source of the curse, began to realize their faults against the Changco family. Bishop Gregorio, torn by the unfolding events, realized the gravity of the situation. The darkness that had plagued San Roque was not brought by the innocent family but by the malevolent forces of the Del Fierro lineage.
"I have been blind to the truth," the bishop muttered to himself, questioning his earlier judgment.
The citizens, armed with makeshift weapons and fueled by newfound courage, fought back against the manananggal horde.
Alice, realizing that the citizens of San Roque now direct their attacks against their force, turned towards Tabby in deep resentment and anger.
"Why are they turning towards us?!", cried Alice, "You are supposed to be dead by now! But why?!"
"That's the power of prayer, Madam Alice," declared Tabby, "Only God can help us fight the real evil."
"DIE, YOU INSIGNIFICANT CHILD OF GOD!", shouted Alice, as she tried to use her claws to stab Tabby.
Suddenly, a ray of sunlight came towards Alice, and there she screamed in pain.
"NOOOOO!", screamed Alice, "We need to retreat! Go back to our camp before the sun kills us!"
The creatures, sensing the rising sunlight, retreated to the shadows to avoid its lethal touch.
"You will pay, Tabitha. YOU WILL PAY!", shouted Alice.
"Yeah, you will pay!", mocked Jeremy, as they flew away back to their camp outside the town.
As the first rays of the morning sun bathed the town in golden light, the manananggal horde, weakened and vulnerable, vanished into the dark side. The citizens of San Roque, battered but triumphant, looked around at the aftermath of the battle.
Bishop Gregorio, humbled by the realization of his misjudgment, approached the Changco family.
"I see now that you are not the source of the curse. Forgive me for my ignorance," he said, his voice filled with regret.
