At the local police station, Tabby found herself under the harsh glare of the interrogation room lights. The officers questioned her about the manananggal, their skepticism evident in their tone.

"Why are you bringing a man who is a manananggal? Aren't you aware of what this town is known for?", they asked.

But Tabby stood her ground, explaining the situation as best as she could.

"I'm here to help my boyfriend," she said, her voice filled with determination. "He's not a monster. He's a victim of a curse, and I'm here to break it."

The officers exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable. After what felt like an eternity, they finally let her go, but not before warning her to be careful.

As Tabby stepped out of the police station, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The town of Sitio San Roque, with its supernatural stories and faith healers, was unlike any place she had ever been. But she knew she had to stay strong, for Miguel's sake.

As the policemen led Tabby out of the station and into the grassy field, their intentions became clear. Their eyes were filled with a predatory glint that made her skin crawl. But Tabby was not one to be easily intimidated. She stood her ground, her eyes meeting theirs with a defiant glare.

"Stay away from me," she warned, her voice steady despite the fear that was creeping up her spine. "I'm not afraid of you."

Meanwhile, high above the town, Miguel was frantically searching for his lower half. He could sense its presence, a faint pull that was guiding him towards it. As he flew over the town square, he noticed a group of residents carrying torches, bamboo poles, and knives. They were looking for him, their faces filled with fear and determination.

"We need to look for this manananggal man," one of the townsfolk declared, "He needs to be eliminated immediately!"

Miguel knew he had to be careful. He couldn't afford to be caught, not when Tabby was in danger. He circled the town square, keeping a safe distance from the residents. His eyes were fixed on the grassy field near the police station, where he could sense his lower half.

Back on the ground, Tabby was doing her best to fend off the policemen. But she was outnumbered, and she knew she couldn't hold them off for long. Just as she was about to lose hope, she heard a familiar faint flapping of wings echoing through the night.

"Miguel?" she whispered, a glimmer of hope lighting up her eyes. Memories of him from her recent assault at the condo race back on her mind, realizing that the manananggal who saved her yesterday was indeed her boyfriend.

In desperation, she screamed, "HELP ME!"

Suddenly, the creature swooped down from the sky, landing between Tabby and the policemen. His wings spread wide, his claws gleaming under the moonlight. The policemen recoiled in fear, their bravado quickly fading away.

"Stay away from her!," Miguel growled, his voice echoing with a primal fury.

The policemen, determined to neutralize the creature, carried their pistols aiming towards him.

"Stop, you monster! You deserve to be neutralized! Leave the woman alone! She's ours!," they declared.

"Don't you dare harm the love of my life!," declared Miguel. He then swooped towards the officers, who then shot their guns towards him. Strangely, the bullets seemed not to penetrate the manananggal's body, and instead ricocheted to the ground. Miguel then fought the officers with his own fists, stopping them from assaulting Tabby.

The policemen didn't need to be told twice. They quickly retreated, leaving Tabby alone with Miguel.

Miguel then approached his girlfriend Tabby. He hugged her tightly, knowing she was now safe from the menacing police officers.
