Chapter 24

(FYI, this chapter is longer than the others I wanted to make this one perfect. I will start working on chapter 25 ASAP I promise, hope you like this.)

Tessa:

I made it home, I run into the house as my mother stops me at the door. "Can I help you?" I looked at my mom dead in the face. "Mom?" she looks like she has been crying.

"Where did you go? I found your phone on the porch I got scared." Her eyes were red. I don't say anything. "I have been waiting up all night, Hardin's mom called asking for you said you never showed up for dinner."

"I went for a walk and ended up at a friend's and fell asleep on his couch, I am sorry." I walk into the kitchen. Sitting at the table, "I am sorry I scared you, I just had some things I had to think about. Did Hardin's mom mention Hardin at all? Is he doing okay?"

"He is at physical therapy, if you leave now you should be able to meet him there." I chug the rest of my coffee I grab my phone that I guess my mom brought in from the porch. "We will talk later." I walk out the door into my car. I sit in the car turn the heat on, I hope I did not get myself sick. I pull up in front of the physical therapy office, I find my way into where Hardin was Kim walks out from the door.

"Kim? Why are you here?"

"I stopped in to pick up some paperwork, why are you late?"

"I had some things to work through, is Hardin doing okay?" I peek through the door they have him standing between these two bars that he has to hold onto while they have a strap around his waist. Kim walks away, I slip into his room. The doctor who was working with him today asked me to come over and stand in front of him so she could help him stand from the back. I walk over and take hold of both of his arms. Hardin wouldn't even look at me.

"Give me a minute just keep ahold of him." The doctor said as she walked out. I went to say something, but Hardin spoke first.

"How is Zed?" Zed? Where did that come from? "I saw you two last night, I saw you stand in the street, I wanted to run to you but as soon as Zed grabbed hold of you... I..." he didn't finish. I want to tell him I am just as mad at him as I am with Hardin... But Hardin... he was just trying to protect me from what Zed possibly could have done.

"Look I..." The doctor came back into the room. I was glad I was there for him today; we didn't talk much during his session. The doctor tried rushing the treadmill, but he was not ready for that. I saw the look in his eyes, he was getting frustrated with himself. I took his hand and squeezed, I don't think that helped but I looked at her and she knew what I was indicating. We sat him in a chair the doctor went to the other side of the room to get his wheelchair. "I texted your mom and said I would drive you home." He didn't say anything.

Hardin:

All I keep thinking about was Zed with his hands all over her. I know I should believe she didn't do anything with him... but it just makes me angry thinking about what could have happened. The doctor took my hand and arm on one side Tess took the other side. I still had no feeling in my lower back or in my legs, my toes can move but that is about all I feel. I feel so helpless, I am meant for something bigger. Tess pushed me to her car, they didn't have her bring it around we walked into a parking garage.

"You had to park in here?" She sighed and giggled, I hear a car come up behind us, it sounded closer than it was, he zoomed around us. "Sorry DICK!"

"Hardin!" she stops moving. "Don't sweat the small shit, Hardin." She comes up in front of me. "I wasn't with Zed... after he grabbed me, I pushed him off... I walked off in the rain, A friend of mine found me and brought me to his apartment and gave me some tea to warm up..." I was getting ready to say something. "I slept on his couch and left this morning and came straight to you." I didn't know what to say. I stayed quiet. "Are you going to say something?"
